Ambient Light

[EN]
Small mod that modifies the behavior of the ambient light of RimWorld, because before under a roof it was totally dark. With this mod the exterior light makes a luminous diffusion that decreases under the roofs (like in real life).
→ Visual rendering is still a work in progress.
→ Light intensity under roofs adapts dynamically to weather and outside brightness.

- Outdoors: vanilla sky light (time and weather).
- Under roof edges: light is strongest at the border, then gradually fades inward (configurable).
- Lamps and artificial lights are unaffected.
- Debug overlay available.

Features:
• Configurable maximum depth (controls smoothness of fading).
• Light decreases step by step from roof openings.
• Debug overlay shows depth and falloff.
• Compatibility: I do not guarantee compatibility with other modes that manage light, otherwise there are no known conflicts.
• Safe for saves (add/remove).

Petit mod qui modifie le comportement de la lumière ambiante de RimWorld, car avant sous un toit c'étais totalement sombre. Avec ce mod la lumière exterieur fait une difusion lumineuse qui diminue sous les toits (comme dans la vrais vie).
→ Le rendu visuel est encore en cours de création.
→ L’intensité lumineuse sous toit s’adapte dynamiquement à la météo et à la luminosité extérieure.

- Extérieur : lumière vanilla (heure et météo).
- Sous les bords de toit : lumière maximale au bord, décroissance progressive vers l’intérieur (réglable).
- Lampes et lumières artificielles inchangées.
- Overlay debug disponible.

Fonctionnalités :
• Profondeur maximale configurable (plus elle est élevée, plus le dégradé est progressif).
• La luminosité diminue progressivement en s’éloignant des ouvertures.
• Overlay debug pour visualiser profondeur et perte de lumière.
• Compatibilité : Je ne garantis pas la compatibilité des autres modes qui gèrent la lumière, sinon il n'y a pas de conflits connus.
• Sans risque pour les sauvegardes (ajouter/supprimer).

Thanks for the feedback, @Dr. Wicked. I realized I uploaded the wrong mod file. It's a file I use for my tests, and there were still some graphics tests in it, so that could cause performance issues.

I'm going to update with the correct file, so that should fix the problem. Don't hesitate to let me know if there's a problem.

This is good, and has very little performance impact during most of the gameplay, whenever someone builds, deconstructs or destroys a wall, there is a pretty noticeable hitch. And when a 10k raid point mech cluster dropped on my map with a ton of walls, it became a slideshow for like 3 minutes straight while all the walls were being created.

Instant sub then for that. I hate how I couldn't have covered walkways without my pawns complaining about it either being dark or being wet from the rain if I didn't have the walkway covered lol. These mf pawns sometimes lol.

yes @DarakuGato, the % of light comes from RimWorld itself, so the pawns take that into account.

I assume this would fix the wonkiness when you build walkways outside with a roof for rain? The slower walk speed from darkness being fixed with this is the big thing.

@Kokorocodon actually, it doesn't require a lot of performance, I made sure to do it like in the basic RimWorld, that is to say that the map is divided into several subsections, to simplify if the section is not touched = no calculation (so no scanning of the map all the time, which would cause a drop in performance if this was the case).

So @Alma_S (and those who have the same problem) if I understand correctly you must have a compatibility problem, if you have another mod that manages the light it must come from there, personally I have more than 100 mods and I have no problem, but I note your comment and once I have updated my mod and it is as I would like it I will look into the compatibility of my mod, and thank you for the feedback.

@shady some of us just want roofed fire breaks without making it dark all the time. it happens in early game where there are other higher priorities, and its absolutely jarring to have dark fire breaks in the middle of the day
