I already fixed this on a previous version of the vehicle but never carried it over to the actual one.
Also while you´re right about the transmission you arent meant to do it that way. As shifting gears does have a better effect on the engine when climbing or going over rough ground.
You also cannot have a stable firing plattform if you just stay in maximum gear since the turret is not stabilized. So the driver is meant to slow down to a more acceptable speed to allow the gunner to aim.
Also all of these old vehicles all use the same transmission, only getting around to uploading things I made like a year ago. So that might change in general since armoured vehicles post 1940s tended to have semi automatic or even fully automatic transmissions.
