S17 Weasle

History
S17 Weasle Heavy Wheeled Scout Tank
The S17 Weasle was introduced as a fast 8x8 reconnaissance vehicle, combining high mobility with enough firepower to survive in contested zones. Its turret-mounted 20mm autocannon and coaxial 7.62mm machine gun gave it solid anti-infantry capability, while its strong engine and electric transmission allowed equal top speeds forward and in reverse. Amphibious capability was built in, letting it cross rivers and shallow lakes during scouting missions.

On paper, the S17 was an excellent scout, but its flaws became clear even during training. The electric transmission was prone to catastrophic failures, often immobilizing the vehicle in the field. Even more dangerously, leaky door seals caused several Weasles to sink during amphibious operations. The 20mm gun also struggled against enemy armour, limiting its usefulness against anything beyond light vehicles. Despite these issues, its speed, radios, and survivability made it a valuable tool for reconnaissance units—so long as its mechanical quirks held off.

Stats and Features

  • Size: 7.75m, 2.75m, 2.75m
  • Speed: 110kph
  • Crew Places: Driver, Commander, Gunner, second Driver
  • Armament: 1x 20mm, 1x 7.62mm
  • has Radio
  • has two drivers

Startup Procedure [VERY IMPORTANT]

  1. Main Breaker
  2. Starter Master
  3. Fuel Cutoff
  4. Hold Master Starter and ignition at the same time
then immediately disable the fuel cutoff to allow fuel to the engine to let it run
make it rev and then you are good to go

Further Notes
- way too aggressive gearshifting and brake using without clutch is gonna stall the engine
- Fully Manual Transmission, use Clutch while shifting up/down!!!
- reverse speed is the same as forward speed!
- there is two driver areas!!!
- it can float! Follow procedure on the buttons that enable the props!

About the Project
The Pacific Front is a Alternate History Project about the time from 1940s through to the 70s in a time of turmoil, war and desperation. It focuses on the countries around the pacific ocean, like the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Russia, China and a lot more. All the the project vehicles are fictional in nature and have their own story, lore and design. The Projects creations have a tendency for high fidelity, decoration and multi crew operation.

Credits for JFX for helping with the original hull!

@Ady you were right about the starter, it was too weak, the issue is fixed. The procedure is still up to date and correct.
I already fixed this on a previous version of the vehicle but never carried it over to the actual one.
Also while you´re right about the transmission you arent meant to do it that way. As shifting gears does have a better effect on the engine when climbing or going over rough ground.
You also cannot have a stable firing plattform if you just stay in maximum gear since the turret is not stabilized. So the driver is meant to slow down to a more acceptable speed to allow the gunner to aim.

Also all of these old vehicles all use the same transmission, only getting around to uploading things I made like a year ago. So that might change in general since armoured vehicles post 1940s tended to have semi automatic or even fully automatic transmissions.

nvm I just rewired the starter, also the gearbox is kinda unnecessary cuz you are using something to smooth put the clutch engagement, making it work as a cvt

The starting procedure is unclear, unable to start
