This mod does a bit more than the title suggests, but it provides options to allow you to promote your militia and caravan guard troops.

Summary:
  • Militia troops may now upgrade to their veteran counterparts
  • Militia Archers may now upgrade into Armed Traders
  • Armed Traders may now upgrade into Veteran Armed Traders
  • Veteran Militia Archers may now upgrade into regular Tier 4 archers
  • Veteran Spearmen may now be upgraded into Caravan Guard or Caravan Master
  • Caravan Guard may now upgrade into Veteran Caravan Guard
  • Units are rebalanced, with a focus on Caravan Master getting upgraded with new equipment
  • A new tier 1 unit, townsman, can be upgraded into Militia Archer or Militia Spearman
  • Peasants may be upgraded into Villagers or Townsmen

This mod is not intended as much more than a quality of life improvement. I was not satisfied whenever I ended up with some of these units without the ability to upgrade them into something more useful, so I made this mod for me some time back.

SAVE COMPATIBILITY - This mod DOES introduce new units into the game. Therefore so a save which uses this mod cannot be continued without it.

MOD COMPATIBILITY & LOAD ORDER - This mod should be compatible with most other mods, but I would recommend placing this mod as one of the first mods in your load order, after the official TaleWorlds Modules but before other mods. If you do this, generally you will not see any crashes.

@BCMINISOOP - Hehe, it's no problem at all. I believe I literally had the same idea, make some sort of in-between unit between peasants and militia, incorporate armed traders in there as well and my caravan guards, linking militia units into it, ... Started on it, but then took a break from Bannerlord, including modding it, and procrastination hit me like a truck. So it's well deserved!

Slowly getting back into playing with the new 1.3.0 beta, so I'll definitely check this one out!

@Snowieken - Oh, sorry? haha. If you did make a mod similar to this one, I wouldn't mind linking it as an alternative. But yes, I had to link your mod as I thought it dovetails so well with this one :)

@Ultragrunt - If you rescue any peasants from looters for example you can recruit them and upgrade them into townsmen. Actually, on my own system I have modded the game so the default recruitable units are peasants, but generally you would have to rescue peasants to recruit them and upgrade them into townsmen.

@Rachel L - I haven't tested my mods with 1.3, but these mods are fairly simple XML mods so unless there are changes to the XML structure they should continue to work

@Hisaraki Shiroki - From RMB's description - 'ANY mod that adds armors and/or weapons is NOT compatible with Combat modules unless there is a RBM patch for it.' - This mod does neither of those things, so I would guess it should be compatible. But, please test it yourself to be sure.
