A visceral HL2 themed team-elimination based gamemode for Garry's Mod.
Ensure all maps associated with the gamemode follow te_mapname naming conventions.

Enjoy competitive peer-to-peer matches with friends, clans, or server communities far and wide.

Each round is 3 minutes long, at 0:00 seconds the most alive on a team is considered the victor.
There is a 10 second window to spawn at the start of every round, indicated by sound.
Rounds are automatically reset if a team contains 0 players within first 10s of round.

Maps that expertly utilize loot breakable entities such as supply crates is encouraged.
Endlessly loops matches by default. Scoreboard keeps up with active K/D ratios.

Automatic teamkill protections, player does over 40 teamdamage, they are slain by RCON.
Kill feed reports to victim & teammates about attacker, total HP, weapon used at time of death.
Players are not allowed to global chat during a round in progress, to prevent ghosting and grief.
You may press LMB to spectate others, or RMB to hover in free roam when dead or spectating.

ATTENTION - VERY IMPORTANT
gm_construct & gm_flatgrass is immediately redirected by default, place testing.txt in your garrysmod/data folder to use the map under testing conditions.

maptypes supported for subsequent voting:
de_, cs_, te_, ow_, owc_, gm_

spawnpoint management as follows:
info_player_teamspawn 1,2
info_player_terrorist, info_player_counterterrorist (then)
info_player_start (all else fails)

Players can engage or interact with:
Various combine and resistance units, from vortigaunts, wallhammers, spikewalls, and more
Fully functional DOG NPC that can throw props at players, suspend players for squadmates
Fully functional item crates from the original Half-Life 2, added through OFFICIAL ENT edits
Placeable combine turrets, converted to resistance turret with ALYX EMP tool (+use)
Hordes of zombies on infestation rounds, beware of lethal headcrabs
Armies of antlions, controllable lesser antlion guards, with BUGBAIT
Placeable crates that squadmates can break for additional ammo
Placeable combine thumpers, destroyed by ALYX EMP tool (+use)
Randomized loadouts, ensuring no round is the same
Playable combine and resistance snipers
Deployable combine rollermines
Deployable combine manhacks
Deployable combine scanners
Deployable combine hunters
Deployable headcrab canisters

Hold R to view your HUD temporarily.
Press R with NPC SWEPs to set them to follow you.
Press B to use secondary fire for TFA HL2 weapons.
Hold E to ping all teammates to the location of an enemy or location of interest.
Hold MOUSE4 or MOUSE3 to slow walk, silencing all sound from player footsteps.
Crosshairs are disabled by the gamemode by default.

commands:
"thirdperson_ots" - enable over the shoulder third person, works with !thirdperson

"te_team_select" - bind this to access team menu, works with !menu
"te_fixspawn" - allows player to fix spawnpoint within first 10s of round, works with !fixspawn

"te_ambient" - defaults to 1, plays low volume hl2 ambient in background, with combat music
"te_dispatchvoices" - defaults to 1, plays 20% volume dispatch city voices in background

"te_overlay" - client variable, determines if custom combine overlays are used, defaults to 1

"te_shout_combine" - as resistance, alert teammates to combine
"te_shout_manhacks" - as resistance, alert teammates to manhacks
"te_shout_headcrabs" - as resistance, alert teammates to headcrabs
"te_shout_vortigese" - as resistance vortigaunt, mutter cheerful banter with teammates
"te_shout_letmeheal" - as resistance medic, alert teammates you're trying to heal them
"te_shout_medic" - as resistance, shout for HELP from an available medic

"te_roundlength" - value in minutes for round timer, defaults to 3

"te_round_start" - manually start round, as admin
"te_round_pause" - pause round as admin for technical difficulties, AFK checks, etc
"te_round_end" - forcefully end the round, as admin

"te_lock" - lock/unlock a match in progress
"te_shuffle" - forces all players onto different teams, and restarts the round by RCON, superadmin only
"te_hardshuffle" - when set to 1, shuffle spectators and unassigneds, defaults to 0
"te_enforce_balance" - enforces that teams are even at all times, defaults to 1
"te_players_required_to_start" - required players present on both teams in order to start, defaults to 1
"te_spectate_team_only" - as admin or owner, configure if players can only spectate their own team, defaults to 1
"te_global" - whether global communication, such as text and vc is enabled, defaults to 0

"te_rounds_rtv" - rounds till map change, defaults to 11, can be modified, 0 disables
"te_force_mapvote" - as admin, or owner, forcefully trigger map vote
"te_reset_rounds" - as admin, reset round counter implicated for map votes
"te_check_rounds" - check rounds remaining till map vote

"te_kill_afks" - determines if inactive players are slain for inactivity, defaults to 1
"te_afk_timeout" - value in seconds determines timer for when player is slain for inactivity, default 60s

"te_god_enable" - enable godmode for all players and freeze them, as admin
"te_god_disable" - disable godmode for all players and unfreeze them, as admin

I wanted an extremely fast time-to-kill competitive alternative to HL2DM, so many others were like why why why not do this with HL2DM, I felt enemies were too bullet spongey and difficult to kill. Enemies a bit too fast. I wanted to make the perfect gamemode blending tactical squad elements, grenade tennis with gravity guns, with unique abilities that set apart the team in barely noticeable but extremely impactfully fun ways.

In the age of Counter Strike and competitive gaming, it was always a deep sadness to me that the HL2 universe never got it's competitive equivalent. Downstream mods have succeeded into this avenue heavily, such as Neotokyo & more, something simple yet so overlooked could make excellent use of the beloved videogame universe we all enjoy deeply.

NOTE: This gamemode derives from Sandbox, and Base, verify your total addons before playing peer-to-peer.
