描述
This is the twin brother of "Grenade Stack". While "Grenade Stack" allows stacking grenades of the same type, this one allows stacking healing items of the same type.


Q: "What makes it different from 'Paramedic Survivors' mod?"
A: "That mod allows survivors to stack all healing items by storing them in virtual inventory, but they can't be used consecutively as you'll need to pick them manually by shoving any objects first. This mod, although you can only stack healing items of the same type, they can be used consecutively with only 0.5 second of delay for re-picking the item from inventory."


List of features available on "medic stack.txt" cfg file:
  1. medic_stack_mode: Which mode is used. 1= Ammo Piles mode (pressing E on healing items of the same type can stack items without removing the item spawns). 2= Removal after stacking (pressing E will remove items).

  2. medic_stack_limit: How many first aid kits can be stacked. Min= 1, max= 10.

  3. defib_stack_limit: How many defib can be stacked. Min= 1, max= 10.

  4. adrenaline_stack_limit: How many adrenaline shots can be stacked. Min= 1, max= 10.

  5. pills_stack_limit: How many pills can be stacked (Louis would love this :D ). Min= 1, max= 10.

  6. allow_bots_to_stack_items: When enabled, bots can pick items from virtual inventory after using a healing item (currently it's still bugged, as bots can pick items infinitely even if the scripts are the same as player's. If you don't want bots to become OP as "Gods of Healing", disable this one).


Mechanisms of "Medic Stack" mod:
  • You can stack items only if you have the same items (Examples: you can stack medkits if you have medkit. You can stack pills if you have pills).

  • Press E (Use) on healing items of the same type to stack them. A notification about the number of stacked items will show up.

  • When the stacked number is maxed, the notification won't increase further.

  • Mode 2 of "medic_stack_mode" removes the spawned items.It means that if you already have items stacked in max number & you pick the same items, those items will disappear & you'll get nothing. So, if you use Mode 2, don't pick more items if your stacked items are already maxed.

  • When using the a stacked item, the items will be consumed, but a new item of the same type will be generated in 0.5 second after consumption. It means that if you have stacked pills, you can keep eating pills every 0.5 second, & become Louis :D .

  • If you give pills/ adrenaline to other survivor while you still have the items stacked in inventory, you'll pick a new one in 0.5 second after giving your pills/ adrenaline.

  • You can stack different healing items by keeping swapping between 2 different items (like defib-medkit, or adrenaline-pills). However, only items in your item slots will have their stacked numbers saved to the next chapter (Examples: If you stack medkit & defib to the max & then you choose medkit at the end of map, the stacked number of medkit will be preserved to the next chapter but the defib will be reset).

  • If you arrive at the end of map having no healing item or only have one slot while the other is empty, as long as you still have the stacked items, you'll get them automatically.

  • This only works if healing items use the original slots (slot no. 4 for medkit & defib, & slot no.5 for pills & adrenaline). If you use mods that change the slots for healing items, they will be bugged or even no longer work.


So with this mod, you can pick all medkits & pills all for yourself. May the God Louis be with you :D .

i guess i just misunderstood it as the item refusing to be an infinite pickup, instead of getting destroyed. :steamsad:

@kouga , that is what I mentioned on the description for mode 2. If the healing items are already maxed picking more will result in item removal but you'll get nothing.

@kurochama. i see, well im not sure about the correlation, but im encountering a bug where if im on mode 2 and i pick up more medkits past the limit, it just deletes the medkit on the floor into notihing and you cant get it back. my medkit limit is set to 1 btw

@ kouga , the item is dropped as single item with different amount of ammo clip & the ammo clip is also saved on a table to prevent the item count reset when picking different items by accident. For dropping only single item, this is to prevent too many items dropped at the same time.

btw, it really doesnt drop multiple stacked items when swapping, huh? just one item with a table inside it? it would have been nice for mode 2, but im not sure if that was done because of limitations or preference

@kurochama, thank you for the advice! i actually do that so ill get back to you. my problem right now is that i cant get on my computer to test as im busy with other things. but the behavior id notice was akin to the items suddenly disappearing from my inventory, turns out! its a bit hard to replicate, but picking up new items would sometimes just make it disappear when its on my back after a certain amount of time passes. just poof! gone


i couldnt get a chance to record it but ill do all of that when im able to. thanks!

@ kouga ,0.1 second of delay should give more than enough time to pick, as usually item is picked in less than 0.1 second. If you're not sure about which one of mods triggered that bug, you can disable all mods via "addonlist.txt" & use "Replace with" feature, to replace "1" with "0". Save your notepad but don't close it, as it will be used to undo "disable all" so you won't have to check your mods one by one. Then only enable this mod & try to test again with only this mod enabled.

awesome! i gave them a shot yesterday and was still having the same problems, so when im able to test again ill triple check for conflicting mods

Btw I was just letting you know that I updated Grenade Stack with the fix on grenade count reset when picking other grenade by accident. You can give a try.
