Mechadendrites Expanded is a mod that adds in a whole new class of bionic implants that use their own slots to not interfere with existing bionics/prosthesis: Mechadendrites. Inspired by the Adeptus Mechanicus from Warhammer 40k; mechadendrites are small, tendril-like limbs usually designed with a singular purpose in mind.

On their own, mechadendrites provide small but tangible bonuses. However, there are multiple slots to install mechadendrites on. Allowing the capacity to install the same mechadendrite six times to stack their bonuses or mix n match for a variety of bonuses. There are currently three tiers of mechadendrites: Basic, Refined, and Standard. Along with specialties in both Refined and Standard-tier mechadendrite tech.

Basic Mechadendrites are where all endeavors into mechadendrites start. Rigid, crude, and relying on questionable means of implantation, they are cheap and easy to mass produce thanks to only costing steel. They are quick to research as well, thanks to their simplistic nature.

Refined Mechadendrites refine upon the designs of basic mechadendrites. Cleaning up the mistakes of initial designs, refined mechadendrites are smoother, more flexible, and are better controlled granting more use. They are also capable of being specialized for specific tasks to further increase their productivity in specific fields.

With Fabrication Technologies, Standard-Class Mechadendrites become available for research. Being sleek, smooth, and forged out of a unique steel-plasteel blend along with combining the technology used in bionics. Standard-Class Mechadendrites are the most readily specialized mechadendrites giving the most bonuses with the most cost to pair with it.

Below are some samples of some mechadendrites you can find or craft in this mod:

Basic Mechadendrite: The baseline of all other mechadendrites. Rigid, crude, and inflexible, it gives a 1.5% manipulation bonus each

Refined General Mechadendrite: A refined iteration of its predecessor with better control and more flexibility. It gives a 2.5% manipulation bonus each

Refined Flashlight Mechadendrite: A mechadendrite with a flashlight attached onto its end to aid visibility giving 2.5% additional sight each

Standard General Mechadendrite: Combining modern fabrication techniques and bionics technology, each standard mechadendrite gives a 5% manipulation bonus

Standard Drill Mechadendrite: A mechadendrite with a drill attached onto its end similar to drill arms (but without needing a tech-print), each drill mechadendrite boosts mining speed by 10% and deep drill speed by 5% each

KNOWN ISSUES
- Mechadendrite slots when displayed have no sense of order relative to one another causing some mixing of mechadendrite slots (This is a vanilla issue, I cannot do anything to fix this)

- Displayed values for some mechadendrites are rounded up, eg. basic mechadendrite visually gives 2% manipulation according to the tool-tip, but in reality, it only gives 1.5%, same with refined that gives 2.5% and not 3% (Vanilla issue, nothing I can do on my end)

So turns out in one of the more recent minor updates I accidentally undid one of the changes marking the gateway tech as deprecated and setting it back to its old values. I am now fixing it by removing the tech entirely. I am sorry for any confusion this may have caused, cause it sure confused me until I figured it out.

Also copy-pasting existing mechadendrites is not as simple as it sounds. It was so tedius I made a template to standardize and make adding new ones easier. Fun thing is they're in the mod's files too since they don't cause any harm.

Well aren't you in luck. I have plans for hacking mechadendrites already and plan for a tier above standard, though not in the usual sense of progression. Instead, I plan to have the really advanced/intensive mechadendrites in their own ultratech tier where you get great boons but at great cost. I feel as though the full upgrade path from Basic -> Refined -> Standard is more than enough especially when considering the specialised mechadendrites. Thanks for the feedback too, it helps. I will say though is despite sharing the mechadendrite name, these are not meant to directly mirror WH40k's mechadendrites beyond sharing a name for the type of implant.

hmmm maybe you could add hacking mechadendrite, tech priests are known for having in their mechadendrites sometimes a various ports for such purposes. Maybe you could add better mechadendrites "advanced versions" or glitterworld versions like 'Holy Mars series mechadendrites" it could also be cool, just copy paste the last upgrades and make them a bit better and you have greater mod without thinking much about it. Why fumble around when you already done something similiar first? Good mod and peculiar one definetly. A shame other mechanicus mods for cybernetics got discontinued.

@Spass Mehreen It would be cool, unfortunately, I'm not a great artist nor do I know how to do such a thing at this time. Perhaps down the line it could be done but for now, no visuals. My apologies.

Would be cool if it actually added visuals to the pawn like a backpack.
