Dornier Do 5700 'Apollyon' Heavy Strategic Bomber

描述
Willkommen auf Kampfgeshwader 12 !!

Built in post war West Germany by the newly rebuilt Dornier Aircraft Company to combat Soviet Strategic Bomber development, the Dornier Do 5700 represents the pinnacle of western aviation collaboration. Based on the US built B-29 Superfortess, the Do 5700 'Apollyon' is a fictional heavy strategic bomber of the West German Air Force built after WW2 to bolster NATO strategic bomber reserves on the continent. It also represents the pinnacle of our development at the Stormworks Bomber Development Center.

XML WORKBENCH IS REQUIRED (We suggest Huge Hangers Mod)

Startup Procedure

I'll get right to it, since this is by far the most complicated startup we've ever made. It's based on the actual training materiels for US B-29 Engineers, so if you're confused, look up the training video, otherwise hang in there, you'll get it

1. Enter Aircraft through Nose Wheel Hatch, go to Flight Engineer seat
2. Orient yourself with all of the controls, it will help down the line
3. Main Power - ON
4. Main Hydraulic Pumps/Valves - ON/OPEN
5. Hold APU start until it revs up, then connect APU
6. Turn ON all Prop Locks (Right Armrest)
7. Open Left/Right Wing Tank Valves
8. Master Ignition ON
9. E1 Cowl/Inter-cooler Flaps OPEN (Left Armrest)
10. E1 Magneto ON (Fuel Pressure will rise)
11. E1 Ignition ON
12. E1 Fuel Booster Pump ON (FP will increase to around 68)
13. Hold CHARGE STARTERS Button until light illuminates
14. Engine 1 Turning Motor ON (ensure Clear Prop)
15. At 57 LBS Oil Pressure, hold E1 Starter AND Primer until engine start
16. E1 Fuel Pump/Turning Motor OFF
17. E1 Generator ON
18. Repeat 9-17 for the other three engines
19. Hold APU button until shutdown (Disconnect)
20. Oxygen Systems ON
21. Report Startup Complete

Taxi/Takeoff

Gunners:
- Secure Weapons
- Jettison aft ladder
- Close all hatches and doors

Pilot:
- Lights as necessary
- Ensure 160lbs brakes pressure
- Parking Brake OFF

Engineer:
- Prop Locks OFF
- Steer using individual throttles
- Line up on runway

Pilot:
- Full Power
- Parking Brake On in air
- Landing Gear UP
- Set 0.8 Throttle once airborne
- Set autopilot (Master Power ON)

Engineer:
- Cowl Flaps CLOSED once airborne
- Arm Port/STBD Hardpoints

Now that we're airborne, here's the overview

Nose

The nose hold the flight compartment, with Pilot, Co-Pilot, Bombardier, Flight Engineer and Dorsal Gunner. All of these stations have their own responsibilities the Captain manages the crew, the Co-Pilot keeps the plane in the air while Cap is out of their seat or dead, the bombardier drops bombs and the engineer satiates the 4 monstrous 80 Cylinder Engines. The Gunner uses a complex radar guided fire director to defend the aircraft from multiple angles while maintaining the co-located Hydraulic and Brake systems.

Aft

Connected to the nose by a tunnel, the aft compartment is the main equipment and gunnery station of the Apollyon, with a Ventral gunner station, two sighting bulbs, and a tail gunner station, as well as housing the APU, Batteries, Aft Hydraulics and all important Stove.

Tail

The small tail compartment, accessed through the aft bulkhead door, houses a sleeping bunk, more oxygen, and of course, the tail gunner and associated equipment. There is also an emergency hatch for bailouts in case of rapid unscheduled disintegration.

Combat

Gunners will use their sighting stations to 'frame' targets, at which point guns will be automatically directed onto target. Simply press the trigger and watch as a total of ten linked 20mm cannons disintegrate whatever rapscallion dares defy your supremacy.

The Bombardier has a slightly more complex job, managing both the internal unguided bombs and the four experimental 'Albatross' missiles.

Bombing

1. Alt must be between 10k and 14k, set sight accordingly
2. Take Autopilot control (Pilot must consent)
3. Line up the target
4. Open Bomb bay doors
5. Arm Bombs
6. Drop when sight is aligned
7. Close doors

Missiles

1. Make sure AP is set
2. Choose a course (up to 20 Degree deviation from current)
3. Lock in chosen course on missiles
4. Signal Weapon Ready (buzzer)
5. Co-pilot charges firing circuit (On Overhead Panel)
6. Pilot Selects Weapon and Fires

Damage

I don't have enough space on this steam page to explain everything, but literally everything can be damaged, including: Oil Leaks, Coolant Leaks, Braking Leaks, Hydraulic Leaks, Electrical Damage, Oxygen Fires, Engine Damage, Fuel leaks and all other things SW does on it's own. If you want to know more, refer to our other bombers, its mostly the same systems, but much, much more. Engines and controls will react to damage, and each type of damage has a corresponding system it affects.

Conclusion

The Apollyon is the final act in the Line of Stormworks bombers that Myself, Jay and Lizzoschin have created over the past 2 years. I am going off to college tomorrow, so this is definitely the last project that I will work on, although I may have input on future some projects as well. Thank you to everyone who has subscribed and supported the work of our team and myself, we hope we have achieved our goal of creating the most fun and dynamic bomber experience in stormworks, and that this aircraft will stand as the ultimate testament to our work. Please Refer any comments to the other members of the team, they will take care of any issues/updates.

Is the altitude specified in the bombing description in feet? It's not entirely clear, as I personally can't see anything in the bombardier's sight at 10k+ feet. idk, maybe I'm missing some settings.

we built the plane with it on, and used a couple pieces added by the DLC, but it should work mostly without it
