The Crossing (HL2 Custom Campaign)

The bridge is dangerous and looks like it is about to collapse under the weight of headcrabs, zombies, and the Combine. Can you cross it by fighting against these enemies along the way, so that you meet up with your fellow rebels on the train?


VERY IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: This custom campaign has only been tested in sandbox singleplayer, with the only mods being tested with this map are: explosion replacer; MMOD HL2 weapon replacements; ARC9 and MWB SWEPs; Combine soldier, hunter-chopper, gunship, APC, and Rebel model replacements; a custom playermodel; VManip addons; and HUD addons. I'm sorry to say this, but I cannot guarantee the campaign's stability if you use more complex addons (such as the ones that alter NPC's AI) and/or some old SWEPs, along with playing it in multiplayer.

WARNING: The campaign occasionally throws a lot of enemies at you, especially in the first sequence of the first map (thecrossing1_thc17_c5) where there are only a handful of small health vials that serve as the only way to heal you up (outside of spawning yourself some medkits or using a health regeneration addon). As such, you can go all-out with your SWEPs or turn on God/Buddha mode.

WARNING #2: If you manually load into the second map (thecrossing2_thc17_c5), there is a chance that you will spawn in the wrong location. The right spawning location would be inside a dark room in a bridge tower before the gate with a Combine soldier operating his emplacement gun. If that is the case, noclip there, spawn yourself some weapons, and then continue.

WARNING #3 (SPOILER ALERT): Speaking of the aforementioned first warning, in the second map, the final sequence of the map, the train fight, can be very challenging to say the least. This involves taking down the pursuing APCs that can be invisible in the fog and can take you down with their rockets, then shooting Combine soldiers on a Combine train that is running parallel to the Rebel train while on the exposed roof of the latter and crouching in case a gantry approaches you, and then jumping aboard the Combine train and fighting against even more Combine (including taking down the gunship with a limited number of rockets) on your way across it. Again, if this is too much to handle for you, you can go all-out with your SWEPs (and spawning your own ammo) or turn on God/Buddha mode (alongside noclipping back to the roof of the Rebel train should you end up getting struck off of it by a gantry if you do not crouch on time).

DISCLAIMER #2: This custom HL2 campaign is not mine, as I laid out its original information in the lower part of this description. If the original author wants me to take it down, I'll do so.
