Hands off!

描述
Hands Off! is for Base Game CK3 & All Total Conversions

Hands off! is a comprehensive Crusader Kings III mod that dramatically enhances the immersion and gameplay around vassal inheritance of lands outside your realm and foreign rulers inheriting lands within your realm

The mod has been updated with a new scenario!

NOTES:
  • Hands Off! is a new mod that took me a long time to figure out. Please be patient and report any weird behaviors and I'll check it out.
  • The mod overwrites no base game files and should (hopefully) be compatible with all Total Conversions and the base game.
  • By default, AI will not declare war for titles that are revoked and they will never give away titles to other rulers. There is a game rule to allow AI to declare wars for titles denied them, but they will never give another ruler their rightful titles (preserves borders on succession)

✔ Achievement Compatible
✔ Ironman Compatible
✔ Works with Total Conversions and base CK3

🎯 Intelligent Inheritance Crisis Management

If your vassals dies and their heir already holds an equal or higher title outside your lands, the mod provides immersive and lore-rich inheritance scenarios.
  • You'll receive detailed events allowing you to:
    • Appoint a different, non-ruler family member of the original heir to the title (siblings, close family, distant family, or dynasty members)
    • Claim the titles for yourself to maintain realm integrity
      • This option is only available if the vassal has no non-ruler House or Dynasty members available
      • If using with AGOT, members of the Night's Watch, the Kingsguard, Maesters, Septons, and Silent Sisters are excluded
    • Choose to let the lands go and bide your time for future opportunities
      • AI will only forfeit land if they have the craven trait, are not brave or ambitious, and their max military strength with allies is less than 75% of your max military strength with your allies

If a foreign ruler dies and their heir already holds lands in your realm, the mod provides immersive and lore-rich inheritance scenarios.
  • You will receive an event that allows you to:
    • Let the lands go and bide your time for future opportunities with pressed claims
    • Let the lands go with no claims
    • Demand your former vassal return the lands to you
      • The vassal can either:
        • Return the lands to you
        • Return the lands to you with pressed claims
        • Decline to return the lands to you, which starts a war for the lands

🛡️ Vassal Independence Crisis Management

If a vassal wins a war for a foreign title equal to or greater than your own and pulls their existing lands out of your realm, the mod allows you to respond decisively.
  • You will receive an event giving you three options:
    • Demand the lands be returned by threat of war
      • This triggers a follow-up event for your former vassal
    • Let the lands go, but retain an unpressed claim (AI gets a pressed claim)
      • This is the default AI choice unless the AI Wars game rule is enabled
    • Let the lands go permanently
  • If you demand the lands be returned:
    • The former vassal receives an event with two options:
      • Return the lands peacefully (AI default without AI Wars)
      • Refuse and go to war (AI default with AI Wars)

🏰 Enhanced Realm Politics
Experience more realistic medieval politics where:
  • Vassals inheriting titles outside your realm or foreign rulers inheriting lands inside your reaqlm creats complex diplomatic situations
  • Lieges must carefully manage succession to prevent realm fragmentation
  • Characters can strategically choose between immediate conflict and long-term planning

🎭 Rich Narrative Events
The mod features extensive event chains that:
  • Provide detailed context about inheritance situations
  • Offer multiple strategic choices with different consequences
  • Create memorable stories of ambition, betrayal, and redemption
  • Include personality-based AI decision making (cowardly rulers may avoid conflict)

⚖️ Balanced Gameplay
AI characters make realistic decisions based on their traits and military strength:
  • Events consider character relationships, prestige, and strategic positioning
  • Maintains game balance while adding significant depth to succession mechanics

🌍 Multi-language Support
  • Fully localized in French, German, Korean, Polish, Russian, and Spanish using the aid of AI. Please provide translations if you want and they will be added to the mod.
  • Chinese translation provided by 牛奶大魔王

    Why "Hands off!"?
This mod transforms the static, and frustrating, loss of vassals through inheritance into a dynamic, engaging experience where every succession crisis becomes an opportunity for strategic decision-making. Whether you're a liege trying to maintain your realm's integrity or a vassal fighting for your rightful inheritance, "Hands off!" ensures that the medieval politics of succession are as complex and engaging as they should be.

Perfect for players who want more strategic depth in their Crusader Kings III experience, with every death and succession becoming a potential turning point in your dynasty's story.

I love this mod so much. Could the you update it to version 1.8?

@Lucky Dan - It's not written off of independence, it's written off of a trigger that checks to see if land is going to be lost (the same trigger that shows the message in the UI). I suspect that the game engine itself handles this for vassals of vassals so that the top liege doesn't see it. Unfortunately, modders don't have access to the engine. I'll keep tinkering, but if you just pick the last option to do nothing, it doesn't mess anything up.

I'm getting the event to fire regularly stating a title is leaving my realm... and when I look over what's going on, it's some variant of one person in other part of my realm is taking over from another part of my same realm, and in none of the situations, will it actually leave my realm. If I had to guess, it's written like a vassal independence, but I'm not the person they'd be independent of. It'd be one of my dukes/kings becoming independent of their duke/king.

@Franzosisch - the only way I can debug specific situations like this is for you to share your save file (and mod list) on the discord in a bug report.

I had a situation, where I was an independent King and my Heir was a Duke in the HRE.
When I died the event fired and I could either lose the lands or go to war.
In such a situatuion I think it should be also an option to become (or really stay) a vassal.

The events seem to trigger when they shouldn't. For example, playing as Alfred in Wessex and your brother, the king, with no heirs dies, the event pops up saying your dead brother is laying claim to the lands you've inherited.

@Pl4m - I think I misunderstood. I'll look into it when I have some time.

Awesome! Thank you!

@Master Necro - No updates are needed for 1.17

Does this need an update or it works properly in 1.17 without an update?
