Resurrection Revamp Halo 2 ODST

描述
This is a continuation of my Resurrection Revamp mods. This is a project I am calling Halo 2 ODST. It follows the events of Halo 2 from the perspective of new characters with a large amount of my own gameplay changes and twists. It adds all new weapons, encounters, characters, vehicles, animations, mechanics, balancing, and more. I wanted to bring back the original feel and nostalgia of Halo 2 but add my own completely new coat of paint to the game as well to make it feel new for everyone.

I also decided to add brand new firefight missions to go along with the campaign. Right now there are 2 levels for firefight. I highly recommend enabling boons and trying out lots of different enemy wave types. Every wave has new enemy variants as well as brand new factions for waves such as the heretics and enemy humans which can be found labeled as the heretic and heretic heavy waves.

Play as Jackson as you follow the Master Chief. He is a battle hardened Urban ODST who will complete a mission no matter the cost. A survivor from Reach who knows firsthand how outnumbered, outgunned, and outmatched the humans are to the Covenant. He also knows that even if he's going down he's not going down without a fight. He will take out as many Covenant as he can to give humanity a fighting chance. Even if it means sacrificing himself or those around him for the greater good.

Play as Jydo 'Vraham as you follow the Arbiter. He is a high ranking elite warrior that earned the title honor guard. He enjoys fight more than anything else and believes victory in battle is the only way to earn honor. He gave up the status of honor guard due to the lack of any real combat. However due to his battlefield experience and knowledge he became a councilor and he always participates firsthand in the battles he orchestrates.

Note: If I continue the campaign I may end up releasing the whole thing as an inexpensive Patreon purchase as it is a very large amount of work to fully port over missions from Halo 2 to ODST.

So, this is a fun mod and I love the premise, I just have a few nitpicks for feedback.

1. Encounters are pretty rough, especially with the vehicle sections in outskirts.

2. I feel like the hero in each mission doesn't take an active "leadership" role. As in, the player is required to walk into the next section when we've always seen chief and the arbiter doing that. I sat waiting in certain sections to see if the chief and arbiter would move forward (which is what they indeed do in vanilla) and I as the "supporting" character had to initiate the next sequence.

On the feedback side, I do have some notes which I hope will be helpful:
- Equipment is mapped to same button as visr, meaning it's used up every toggle.
- Some encounters are very difficult considering the ammo available. The initial holdout segment - having an engineer right off the bat at the first chokepoint was rough considering how small the area is + ODST reduction of bullet damage against shields + and how beefy the engineers are by default
- Chief gets stunlocked by drones. He pulls out his knife and just stands there
- Chief's pathfinding breaks down between sniper alley and the warthog.
- Because of H3 and ODST's vehicle damage mechanics, the vehicle section wrecked me. Plasma shreds player health in vehicles, which there are now more of. Enemies have increased range. The entrance to the highway resulted in a lot of deaths on normal with all the ghosts, Prowlers, and phantom. In the tunnel 4 of the cov bus bolts will kill me on Normal + their range is longer

Appreciate the sandbox mixes! Having the jackal shield, equipment using elites, pulse carbine, etc. makes it feel very fresh. That and fighting alongside the Chief!

@funnyAnyway Ah, me too Halo 2 remains my favorite, but, honestly if it's you who made the map from A to Z, gg to you again, it's rare, when I don't report anything negative about a mod, but gg to you bg, can't wait to see your other projects

@Sulli Thank you very much I am glad you think the mod is cool and well done! I put a lot of time and work into my mods and I am glad that people see that come through. I script, port, animate, and create everything myself I don't work with anyone else or like to use anyone else's tags or work. I am currently creating a huge update for my Halo 3 mod but will definitely come back around to this mod as Halo 2 is my favorite.

@pickle tickle Thank you very much I am glad you enjoy the vehicles and think they fit in. My goal is to first make things fun for the game but a close second is to have things make sense and look/feel like they would be in the Halo world.

Frankly, your mod is very cool, really well done. It feels like we’re right there with the referee. I don’t know if you made the whole map yourself, but congratulations! I hope a sequel is planned — I’m rubbing my hands already. 8/10.

i absolutely love what you did with this. especially the vehicles. they fit in so well and actually look like things id encounter in universe and not some random thing someone made.
