A simple mod that replaces the UC-36 sprites and audio with that of the M41A Pulse Rifle from Aliens.



This mod features:
  • Complete sprite replacement with new original animations
  • Lengthy PDA entry complete with lore to fit in with Selaco
  • New firing sounds
  • 3D world model
  • HUD and workshop icon
  • Zero gameplay changes, so will not effect balance whatsoever

For more details about modding, programs used and credits, check the Readme file included inside the pk3 file. Be sure to check out the SDK coming around in the future that will feature the fully rigged Dawn arms blend file to make all your current and upcoming mods all the more fitting for Selaco!

Pulse Rifle modelled and textured by Yij/YijArt. Dawn Arms model created by Arturo and is a property of Altered Orbit Studios. Pulse Rifle firing sound from freesound under a creative commons license. The contents of this mod are free to use and edit as a baseline for other Selaco mods. All sprites and graphics must not be used outside of Selaco.

A: No

Q: "I started using this mod, but I switched back to the vanilla rifle FX. the custom FX with the mod seem like they go "off beat" somehow."
A: The "off beat" is lore accurate. In the movie, the Pulse Rifle's firing tone changes, and even stops and starts during full auto: great example is during the queen encounter scene.

Q: "Any way to remove the sight on top?"
A: Ok... so what are we aiming with, exactly?

Playing Alien Incursion inspired me to go back to my mod and push out an update, after seeing how the Pulse Rifle in that game could have been alot better, effects wise. As they say, sometimes if you want something done, you have to do it yourself :steammocking:

In my case, the sound effect for the pulse rifle doesn't work; it uses the sound of the original weapon instead.

I will see if I can try to code it so the mod will (by default) use it's own looping sound so that's one less step to get it working as intended. I've been working on my programming skills so I'll have a stab at it

@Gunsaremagic the pulse rifle sound is enabled in the menu option, should be called something like "Use Legacy UC-36 Sounds" since that uses looping audio
