    History
    SS Ryde (1932–1935)

SS Ryde was the name given to the former SS Magnetic, a passenger tender originally built for the White Star Line in 1891. Constructed by Harland & Wolff in Belfast, she was launched on 28 March 1891 and entered service on 6 June of the same year. As Magnetic, she served primarily in Liverpool, ferrying passengers and mail to and from the great transatlantic liners of the White Star fleet, including the RMS Titanic and RMS Olympic.

The vessel measured approximately 170 feet in length and had a gross tonnage of 619. She was versatile in her duties, also functioning as a tug, water carrier, and excursion steamer. Notably, she was present at the 1897 Spithead Review and survived several incidents during her long service, including a collision in 1915 and a fire in 1925.

In December 1932, Magnetic was sold to the Alexandra Towing Company and renamed SS Ryde. Under her new name, she continued her work as a tender and excursion steamer. She was based at Llandudno and took part in events such as the opening of No.2 Stanlow Oil Dock in the Manchester Ship Canal in 1933.

Despite her continued utility, SS Ryde’s career was short-lived under her new identity. She was sold for scrap on 20 October 1935 and dismantled at Port Glasgow later that year.

Though her time as SS Ryde was brief, the vessel’s long and varied service life as Magnetic and later Ryde reflects the evolution of maritime support roles during the golden age of ocean liners. Her legacy lives on in photographs, models, and maritime records that document her contributions to British nautical history.

I would like to make it faster too but I prefer staying historically accurate.

Good work, but it's better to increase the speed by at least 4 knots:steamthumbsup:
