描述
The Worsborough Bank was one of the most difficult railway grades in Britain, with sections as steep as 1-in-40, and was part of the reason the Woodhead route was electrified in the first place. The fierce grades, combined with heavy coal trains climbing to Huddersfield Junction near Penistone, meant it was one of only a few places where trainspotters could see trains being double headed and double banked. In this scenario, you will be at the controls of a quartet of EM1 electric locomotives on a heavy coal train departing from Wath. Once you have your brakes configured, you will set off for Penistone, dropping your bankers at the top of Worsborough. Owing to the extremes of operation, you are limited to 30 miles per hour on the steepest portion. Duration: 40 minutes.

DLC Requirements:
Woodhead Route (1950s)
Western Lines of Scotland
Class 77 Locomotive Pack
Robinson O4

Note: This updated version of the scenario fixes a programming oversight which meant an AI train near Silkstone Junction had no instructions.

@Rammy I've got an updated version in the works which will make full use of the Clear Call system that was fitted to the class in the 1960s.

A Very Challenging Climb at 1-40 and a nice couple of Steam trains near the Top. Thank You.

@chris Coal was the primary reason the diversion line via Sheffield Victoria was built-originally, MS&LR trains had to go via Barnsley. There are accounts of coal trains in excess of 60 vehicles crossing the Woodhead route, which could be interesting to model. Originally, the LNER built an articulated locomotive to bank coal trains on the Worsborough Bank, but that was scrapped following electrification. And I have some further good news-the advanced scenarios have completed testing and will soon be released. Before that, I have a trip to make to Weardale...

Interesting run up the bank. Manged without problems even if it took 4 76s. I was lucky and 44878 just appeared out of the tunnel before I arrived. I guess these coal trains were the money spinners for the early railways so they would want to maximise consists. Enjoyable set of scenarios on a decent route thank you HS. Kind Regards. Chris

@pjohnandlyns True, though the EM1s were pretty noisy beasts-it's unlikely the Black 5 would have been audible anyway!

Ran OK again with 44878 moving this time.:steamhappy:
Didn't see it though, only heard it, as we were both fully in Oxspring Tunnels as we passed.:steamfacepalm:
