A pair of Burlington Northern General Electric U25B “U-Boats” are preparing to depart Logan with a Butte-bound local as a main line freight rolls past. With Burlington Northern Scenario Pack 01, you will handle heavy tonnage, priority intermodal traffic, locals, and switching duties.
Created in 1970 through merger of the “Hill Lines,” the Burlington Northern Railroad was in its earliest days a rainbow of colors as the locomotives of the merged roads operated in original liveries. Powering BN manifest No. 24, General Electric U25C and U25B diesels wearing BN, Burlington Route, Northern Pacific, and Great Northern colors accelerate from Logan.
With pick-up and set-out work at Bozeman Yard completed, ex-Great Northern EMD GP30 2202 is on the point of BN regional freight No. 196 climbing the west slope of Bozeman Pass. The Burlington Northern inherited stylish GP30s from both Great Northern and Burlington Route.
In the early 1970s, Electro-Motive landmark SD40-2 was “new power.” On a winter day, a quartet of SD40-2s have just reached the rugged summit of Bozeman Pass and are about to enter the west portal of 3,015-foot Bozeman Tunnel.
At the massive Trident cement plant, regional freight No. 195 with a duo of EMD GP38-2s is making pick-ups and set-outs at the facility. Burlington Northern Scenario Pack 01 features operations across the length of the acclaimed Train Simulator Classic Bozeman Pass route.
