描述
Although the bulk of the freight that crossed the Pennines via the Woodhead route was coal, a considerable amount of other traffic was also sent over the route. In this scenario, you will take the controls of a pair of EM1 electric locomotives on a freight between Sheffield Victoria and Mottram Yard. As the scenario begins, you have been held in the freight loop at Sheffield to let a passenger train get underway. Once you have a clear signal, you will begin your run over the Woodhead route to Mottram. Please remember that, owing to the nature of the wagons, you are limited to 35 miles per hour. Duration: 65-70 minutes.

DLC Requirements:
Woodhead Route (1950s)
Western Lines of Scotland
Class 303 (standing in for Class 506 units)
Class 77 Locomotive Pack
Robinson 04

@Rammy I was partly motivated to make these scenarios as Woodhead is a pretty decent route-the scenarios that come bundled with it are a bit of a mess, so I felt people having ones that worked properly was important.

A Very Good Drive in the Gloom and the Rain, nice to see the old Routes Still Being Used. Thank You.

@chris Woodhead is unusual amongst electric routes in that it has gained a cult following amongst railway enthusiasts, which I believe comes from the fact it was a unique system in the UK-Holland also used 1.5kV DC (which is why the EM2s ended up there in the 1970s). The Class 76 (or EM1, to be more period accurate) was certainly a decent freight puller, even if the model included with the base Woodhead route is unrealistically powerful. Good thing there's a BR Black reskin for the WHBR version (and indeed a version of this scenario using it shall release soon-watch this space).

Agreed makes a nice change to drive the class 76. Never travelled on this route but have clear recollection of being in diesel pulled trains and seeing steam locos shunting in the yards and even passing the odd steam hauled trains. Also seeing lots of goods wagons in the yards which you always replicate. So realism spot on as ever and is much appreciated. Also have clear recollections of this weather up North before the climate started heating up somewhat. I liked the seasons, or maybe just those rose coloured glasses again. Enjoying this series thank you HS. Kind Regards. Chris

@pjohnandlyns I'm finding with this route I'm having to add plenty of markers to ensure the trains all go the correct way!

Scenario ran very well again with no problems. Shame about that odd ball signal at Penistone but with a complex route like this the odd dodgy signal is not too bad.
I've not driven a CD 76 for while, made a nice change.
