Confession Bosses in Kingdoms

描述
What is this mod?

It adds the all 5 Confession end bosses into Kingdoms as optional boss fights.

This mod works for both the "Hunger of the Beast Clan" and "Secrets of the Coven" modules.


How to fight the bosses

Short version: Complete Kill Contracts and/or kill Bosses until you get a [Hand of Despair], then head to the Tundra.

Long version (step-by-step guide):

1a) When you complete any Kill Contract, or defeat a boss, you should see a new [Candle of Despair] item as a reward.

1b) You may also purchase [Candle of Despair] from the Hoarder, albeit for a moderately high price

2) Once you collect 4 [Candle of Despair], they will coalesce into a random [Hand of Despair], at the next inn.

3) This [Hand of Despair] is a special stagecoach item that will replace the next Tundra Lair encounter with the corresponding Confession boss.

4) Entering the next Tundra Lair will spawn the corresponding Confession boss battle. You can always check which Confession boss you are going to fight by examining the [Hand of Despair]!

Note: For convenience, the [Hand of Despair] item guarantees lair spawns while equipped


Rewards

Defeating a Confession boss will give massive rewards. You are guaranteed the following:

1) 5 Mastery
2) 80 Relics (2 full stacks of relics)
3) 80 Baubles (2 full stacks of baubles)
4) 80 Inn Materials (2 full stacks of Inn Materials)
5) 3 Cultists Trinkets
6) Malevolent Impulse (Unique Trophy)

Rerolling Boss Encounters

If there is a specific Confession boss you dislike, or are ill-fitted for, it is possible to re-roll any [Hand of Despair] you have. As long as you possess a Hand, the Inns will stock up on [Reignite Despair] items. Using these items will re-roll the boss encounter provided by the Hand.

For the purposes of balance, re-rolling requires a small fee and has limited uses per Inn. You can't easily get that one boss you want, but you can easily avoid that one boss you hate (Obsession).


Difficulty and Downscaling

Due to the difficulty modifiers in Kingdoms (Escalation), the Confession bosses have had their HP and DMG modifiers altered. The exact changes are (relative to their Confession stats):

Escalation 1: -33% MAX HP / -33% DMG

Escalation 2: -20% MAX HP / -20% DMG

Escalation 3: No Changes


Compatibility

Out of necessity, this mod makes direct changes to the game's Confession bosses. Other mods that make changes to Confession bosses may not be compatible

I didn't find any issues when testing the mod post-Crimson update, so I see no need to update it. It works just fine in the Curse of the Court module.

@tac, I tried this, but there is something weird with the Foetor Lair that causes the game to crash if I try to spawn the bosses there. Keeping it exclusive to the Tundra is not just thematic, but it is better than just "randomly" having to exclude the Foetor.

@Seignar Gotcha, well I suppose if you can't do that, maybe make it so any lair makes you challenge the confession boss? I realize it won't be as thematic facing a confession boss from somewhere like the Tangle, but does keep it from being gamed.

@Blu_Ni at least he didnt include the mega spoiler, also i could have sworn the eye one was attached to the ground like eye sore from FNAF world, i need to not just fight it once ever i guess

@tac I tried and I wish I could, but I couldn't find any logic that would allow me to do so. Effects that change map generation are coded differently than those that affect heroes.

Hey, this is pretty cool! :lunar2019piginablanket: Have you thought about chancing regular inn fights for variation? Say, it could sometimes be just bandits or other monsters attacking the inns, instead of the regular faction? I think this would be the biggest improvement to Kingdoms mode.
