描述
This publication contains 2 new trees; a medium and a large Red Horse Chestnut (Aesculus × carnea). This is a rarer hybrid species of the Horse Chestnut (or Kastanienbaum in German) that blooms red flowers in the Spring, as opposed to the more common white flowers of the Aesculus hippocastanum.

About a year ago, MrMaison created a mod of his own original Spring version by coloring the flowers red. Somehow we never got around to publishing it. I had suggested that it would be an easy way to tweak a tree that we already have and cover an entirely different species. MrMaison did a fantastic job coloring the flowers to match their IRL specimens. This hybrid tree will appear 3,333 times on my upcoming Berlin 2025 map, while the original horse chestnut, in its different shapes and sizes, will appear around 13,500 times.

Yesterday, with MrM's blessing, I modded his large version of the chestnut tree to also have red flowers. This was a fun challenge for me as I was able to incorporate techniques in blender with geometry nodes to place the flower instances and create scale and rotation variations with a bit of randomness, then use weighted constraints to point them away from the origin. The large version of the tree will spawn at a maximum of 21.5m tall, as there is an example of such a tree in Berlin. Typically, the Aesculus × carnea only grows to around 12m tall.

Included here:
1. red-horse-chestnut-medium (1,704 tris), 10-14m
2. red-horse-chestnut-large (5,312 tris), 16-21.5m
