Exactly. Fungoids are Xeno-Humans, and per "Rimworld" lore they are still men. They aren't zombies. (If you want something closer to Fungoid Zombies, get the Alpha Genes Mod and look for the Mycoliths, who are mostly compromised.)
I love the idea of a Pawn with Fungoid infection still being who they are. Slower? Dumber? Yes, because the mycelium cracking their brain isn't normal or natural. Yet when they cook their meals, sit and talk with others, you know: "that's still Billy Bob."
(In case you couldn't tell, I also replaced the Instant Vomit Gene with the Repulsive Gene. That gives a massive opinion malus, but it doesn't make them throw up.)
obviously there is some semblance of person in there, this mod just allows that person to hold on a little while longer by practising more
It's because my Based Mushroom Giga-Chads aren't drool-sucking ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that are incapable of learning, forget who they are, and make you vomit on cue. I find those "features" to be STUPID and I remove them, but I LIKE BALANCE so I replace them with something that makes sense.
Specifically, I replace Instant Vomit with Repulsive (basically permanently making them ugly) and Slow Learning.
Wonder if a mod that make the infector gene into a Toggle would be doable?
