"Szumogliika is a human nation ruled by sages and mathematicians, where a strict caste-style social order is enforced, informed entirely by numerology and celestial mathematics. Significant numerological markers are seen everywhere, their sources innumerous; those people who are born on magical dates, when the stars are aligned just right, are considered blessed, and destined for greatness. Others, meanwhile, who are born on the wrong dates, when the wind blows badly, and the stars do not add up, are all but shunned.

In recent centuries the mages of Szumogliika have developed magical methods for piercing reality, allowing them to catch brief glimpses of the fundamental numbers of creation, and occasionally even alter them, with strange and wonderous results.
