Optimisation
THIS.

WARNING: if you dont have most powwerful pc in the world, consider setting low graphic settings because fps fall is real. at least when you look at the city with it' lots of primitives.

So THE THING IS: this map have 77 854 objects in total
(update 20 december 2024: now there are 28 839 objects and i deleted all the objects i am talking in a story below so idk)

(there will story for those i think who really interested in how i make maps until next heading)

and its like, triple the previous record of mine, yes. BUT! But before starting the map I was already so heated with all this fps loss because of the ingame editor being ass in possibility to optimise your map properly, like, i spend much of time on details and then this exact details make map unplayable! but I still found brilliant solution. Lots of moons ago I found that "Railroad sleeper" object in ingame editor assets. Its basically just a squished cube primitive with wood texture, but apparently it dont have collision model. So basically you can go or shoot right through this object, its just visual thing. and the collision model is very hard thing for computer to calculate so anyone making 3d models for games considers make their collision models low-poly. So i didnt know how to find which objects hadnt collision model just as Railroad sleeper to use them on map instead of ones with collision where its not really important, I decided to find it out myself. And I made test map where i placed a lot of different objects from ingame editor asset store bumping into them as a soldier and i really found like 10 objects i didnt know they had no collision model (if you ask nicely i even might create guide to show this objects). Though I knew already that all the bushes dont have collision and they even dissappear if you in high range from them what makes them most optimised objects of ingame editor. There is 23k of just bushes. For example, also on this map there is houses and they have windows but they dont have collision. So there are 77 854 of all objects but there are 41 132 objects without the collision. So there are 36 722 object with the collision and its already melts my fps to 15. Just imagine if I hadnt prepared uncollisioned objects. it would be double the fun. so i consider myself as initiative-taking cool individual.

Ravenfield gameplay
So there is a "few" differencies between War Thunder and Ravenfield gameplay and I always try to find how I can make entertainment combining games with such differencies in dynamic.

Firstly, as in Ravenfield you walk by foot by default having less speed than tanks usually do in wt, I was in need to change relief so troops would have as frequent reliev covers along the way as wt machines do considering their differencies in speed. So the relief go up and down every now and then and it can be difficult for cars to pass if its not some main road. But i think its even funnier to drive offroad tho.

Also you can respawn at captured points in RF but not it WT. it means that I cant place strong vehicles at points in middle of the map because they would be too hard to capture especially for bots but it have enough protection to just spawn there and go to enemy spawn as troop if you dont want to drive there on tank from your spawn.

Using heavy vehicles actually is kind of boring for me on this map because with power of caps lock and mechanic abuse when i get out of a vehicle for a
second when some bot locks me with bazooka I become simply unplappable i mean unstoppable.

So there are a lot of heavy vehicles as the map is big and everything, but not on middle points okay..? Is it even possible to capture enemy main spawns? Feel free to find out by yourself!

The last thing is about planes. In WT they do spawn far away but in RF i have to put spawn point with flying things not so far. It is very important points for team' success so I made bots not to attack them.

Description of map and Post scriptum

yay its finally here!!! I mean if you checked out demo version earlier!

So its an astronomically correct copy of map "Poland" from War Thunder game. Basically, quoting some commenter "its like War Thunder but without the rage".

The same old ingame editor.

So the map is very fun: you see, there is big-ass town and lots of action takes place here, above it and on its shore. Ive been trying to make troops go around the very guts of town because its most cool to battle there i think but you would need 300 bots or more for it genuinly. In any case there are always some big armored vehicles roaming around the city. Besides start points of the team, there are two points in town and third one on other side of the lake. In War Thunder players always use this lake for high-range tank battles so I placed some turrets on the point on shore of the city and the point on hill on another side of lake that shoot each other right from spawn. Thats how the points connected basically. But as I spectated while testing the map, most of action takes place around point at north of the town as there are open fields. Cool map by the way. I mean I just copied it from War Thunder, its not me who actually made it but it means that some paid workers made it knowing that, like, bases of map making etc idk so its cool, and fun. and fun and cool.

So basically ive been making it many tens of hours. even trees in town almost in exact same quantity and spots as original. feel free to help Steam to advertise it i mean put it on "popular" page, it would be cool. If this map wouldnt be popular it will be my own creation to play with at least. you know, its like drawing ecchi art of anime girls just for yourself, you know. Basically it have practical meaning and importance for me anyway.

So what are my honest thoughts? Okay thats another War Thunder port I put lots of effort into. There is nothing much encouraging happens after the comments stop ticking literally every day on my last creation after its first week but im trying to be cool and find motivation to live from other sources as i create new one. want to make something cool for the world. thats always biggest motivation for me to keep going anyway. Be patient for next maps tho! there is marathon event starting 20th december in War thunder. Maybe i will "rest" from Ravenfield there idk. I should also consider low the work I do to the map because 1 map in 1 month is crazy. But actually the Poland map is really detailed enough for such time. It felt like little magnum opus for me while i was mindlessly doing something for 100 hours listening to some twitch streamers but THE FACT IS - i was cooking and every second was the most important for all of this to happen. its like my fifth war thunder map and i believe my true map maker way started from here. To be more precise, from the Pasloe map which came just before wt ones when i made up with what makes maps cool generally. And at this point i really keep this work autonomosly, i even dont need to plan much - all the heaps of ideas and things that is needed to polish already in my head forever as there are quite the same things needed from map to map. Cool, i feel like im getting skill. You know, like, real skill of something. This feeling is important for me because by default I think I dont very have any skills so im useless. If you have same issue, keep in mind that everyone is cool just as the coolest one (whoever they is) because the brains work mostly the same and its just matter of presentation, perception and bla blabla.
