History
The StormRunner MBTS-02A3 is the last of the 02 series of tanks produced by StormRunner Car Co from 1978 to 1985.
The A3 model was designed when the SLA (Stormworks Liberation Army) was about to go to war with the Free Republic of Donkk, it had been noted
that the A1 and A2 models lacked any means of defense against smaller targets like infantrymen. For that reason, the 02A3 was developed and built.
The first 02A3 came out of the factory 2 days before the war happened.
When the war commenced, 182 02A3s were finished of which only 50 had been shipped to the arctic in time.
After the SLA was defeated and disbanded, the rest of the 02A3s that were being built and had been in storage were either given to the Free Republic of Donkk as war reparations
or were sent to dockyards to be kept until further notice.
In 1995 after the North Sawyer Sovereignity was formed, most tanks were given to them to build up their army. At this point, 254 tanks were built.
Production continued even after the SLA's defeat, mainly to use up all available 02 series parts, after which the assembly line could be converted to produce different vehicles.
To meet FRD demands, some 02A3's used parts such as turrets and wheels from previously produced 02A2s and 02A1s, all to "reduce" the amount of tanks the SLA, and eventually NSS would have in their inventories.
Because many 02A3s had been in storage at dockyards for up to 2 years, the salty sea air and the lack of long term preservation methods caused some tanks to be corroded badly.
These tanks were used as parts junkers to repair the other less corroded tanks.
Today only around 50 out of the almost 400 02A3s still exist with most of them having been destroyed on target ranges, or used to servicee other 02A3s.
