描述
THE FALCON SMART SPACE PLANE

This is it, the truly universal smart plane from the maker of the Badger Smart Quad. I've searched the workshop and have not found a non-cheese-powered craft with a longer range. This seems to hold the record. It is capable of flying around the planet or entering a stable orbit and returning.

ProTip: Keep the RCS tanks empty for better balance unless you need the extra fuel or you're going to space.

BUILT FOR SURVIVAL
All of my creations are built in adventure mode for adventure/survival mode.

That means my crafts have plenty of fuel/battery capacity.

This also means you can easily refuel or recharge my creations in adventure/survival modes.

My builds also consider the new damage updates that are inbound, meaning they are designed to auto-land and such with minimum stress on the craft.

This also means my crafts have access doors and such so you can access inventory and such without having to go into drone mode and clip inside the crafts.

The interiors of my crafts are all very organized and I ensure every wire is hidden for maximum aesthetics.

FEATURES
- Autopilot with speed/mach, heading, altitude, v/s, and pitch hold and trim
- Fine and normal control modes
- RCS for high altitude maneuvering
- 30,000 KM max range at 48km cruise altitude
- Retrograde, Prograde, Normal, Anti-Normal hold (when RCS is on)
- Easy-to-read dashboard instruments
- Working Flaps
- Working spoilers
- Auto-brakes (auto-deploy spoilers when descending and speed is set)
- Auto-rudder (rudder keeps the course set to the heading at all times)
- Stall alarm and detection
- Pull up alarm
- Pulls fuel to keep plane balanced
- Exterior Fuel Panel for precise fuel fill levels.
- Exterior Fuel Panel allows for pumping fuel/RCS OUT (for rescue missions)
- RCS -to- FUEL cross feed (dump fuel into RCS tanks or visa versa)
- Cargo containers and access doors

WARNING
This craft requires PREMIXED methane fuel.

IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO USE THIS TO REFUEL:

GETTING STARTED
(from spawn state)
- Press the ENGINE button (to right of nav screen)
- Set flaps to 4%
- Set throttle to 45%
- V1 - 55m/s
- V2 - 65m/s
- WS = pitch UP/DOWN
- AD = roll LEFT/RIGHT
- QE = raw LEFT/RIGHT

Enjoy

WALKTHROUGHS
The first two videos I've uploaded for this creation are walkthroughs.

The first shows you the cockpit as well as the throttle.

The second is a 'how to'; from takeoff to landing and refueling.

@mattbro333 it should be fairly straight forward to fly. There are a few bugs with the transition between cruise and descent and vs and pitch hold modes but they do work and don't become unstable regardless of their bugginess.

It's also very fuel efficient once you're done with climbing.

I usually climb out to about 38km and then cruise at about mach 0.5 or 0.75 (which is pretty darn fast at that altitude).

At that speed/altitude 1/10th of a tank of fuel can get you over 4,000km.

But there will be a bit of a wobble that high because of how thin the atmo is.

@superosh I just realized what you were talking about here:

"After hitting ENGINE I can see some oscillations within the ETA-display, but nothing happens."

This is what is supposed to happen. The thrusters are consuming fuel and the fuel usage samples haven't populated with non-null values yet (it will after about 20 seconds).

The indicator beside the engine button is green, flashing green, red, or flashing red.

red: Off
flashing red: Out of Fuel (off)
green: Nominal
flashing green: trying to start (igniter is on)

Note: I have the ignition tuned precisely which means you should never hear more than 1 or 2 clicks from the igniter so the flashing green is so quick, you'll likely never see it unless your fuel mix is wrong.

The flaps are labeled. See the 2nd cockpit screenshot above. Down arrow lowers flaps, up raises.

I made a video for you here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gl6_7v8yPu4

Just a note though, if you're well outside of landing configureation (mach 2, nose dive, etc) it will not deploy the gear as it will detect a fly-by instead of a full-stop or touch-and-go landing.

@Apollo - It's automatic. Just approach the ground at the same attitude a normal plane would (at about mach 0.19, with flaps near full and vs rate at 5m/s) It will deploy the gear when it detects the ground is about 100m.

How does one put the gear down

> recent activity

The recent activity is the collective activity in 90 days that encompasses likes, subscriptions, and comments and determines where your craft is located when you hit "Load More" on the WS homepage under popular bp's (and if you're in the top 10, you'll be on the home page there).

There are some things that, even while labeled, still require documentation such as moving RCS into the fuel tanks or fuel from the fuel tanks to the RCS tanks and balancing fuel tanks and such with cross feeds - some of that is pretty critical in keeping the craft balanced and even while it's labeled it is a bit complex.

https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3336794387 (see "Radio Stack")

I'm not going to be creating documentation for this craft. That is 100% work and 0% fun. These two crafts are right beside each other in the WS as far as popularity goes and the badger has the best documentation of any craft on the workshop complete with visuals which proves to me that there are virtually 0 people who appreciate that kind of documentation so - nope. Not happening.

>Ohhhhh in terms of recent activity
Not sure what "recent activity" has todo with missing documenation.
