描述
Updated version of my old "Bum to God: Rags to riches" mod updated to support all the new changes to the game since 1.7.1 . I will leave the old version up for anyone who still plays on the old versions, and due to the sheer difference in mods

Currently not all features have been ported over, I'll actively be working on re-adding every feature and updating them to fit with the new mechanics. It is important to note that Decisions have been completely hardcoded to be disabled for landless characters in the RtP patch, so everything will be done with interactions

This mod will allow you to play the game as an unlanded, titleless character. Start the game as a landless lowborn, and work your way to the top


*This mod is heavily inspired by Rise To Power*

INSTRUCTIONS:
  • First, pick any character (You can create your own ruler)
  • After picking a ruler, right click on any landless courtier to abdicate your titles to them (You can also switch to any landless character you want by right clicking them, but you will not get the RTR starter event)
  • Select your social status (Start as a Lowborn or Low nobility)
  • Interact with rulers by right clicking them, Right click on yourself for specific interactions. Most decisions have been replaced with interactions. (i.e Escape from prison)

FEATURES:
  • Begin the game as an unlanded noble, or start from the lowest of the low, an illiterate Lowborn!
  • Visit any ruler's court by right clicking them, you will then travel to their court and they might decide to recruit you if you are skilled enough
  • You can leave the court you are in by using the "Leave court" interaction on your host
  • Join the activities of nearby rulers by using the “Join Activity” interaction
  • Join a mercenary band or a holy order and climb through the ranks! End your service as a vastly richer or more pious veteran
  • Interact with landed bishops (baron or above) to join their church. You will take the vows and become a priest.
  • Once you visit a court, you can Search for a job by interacting with the ruler. Gain a small amount of gold every time you work
  • Most ways of gaining power are restricted to only non lowborns or literate people, so first of all you have to learn how to read. Take the Learn to read interaction by right clicking yourself
  • If you are literate (and have enough money of course), you can proclaim nobility with the support of your liege as their courtier.
  • Create a Populist Faction and free your people from infidel rulers! (Must have "Oppressed" modifier, and be of hostile faith to liege. You can create the faction with the factions window or by interaction)
  • Create a Peasant faction and make the greedy tyrants pay! (Must have "Oppressed modifier", and be a lowborn. You will gain "Privileged peasants" dynasty modifier on victory)
  • After gathering enough gold, you can buy a house by interacting with your host and taking the "Purchase property" interaction under diplomacy. This is the first step towards money making. Gather more gold and you can buy a farm, shop, etc
  • Finally, after gathering a certain amount of gold, interact with a non administrative ruler and offer to buy a Holding. It will cost you 500 gold for a barony, and 1000 for a County.
    Your landless journey will come to an end here
  • If you bought a barony, after obtaining 1000 gold as a baron, interact with your liege to buy a spare county, your true rise to power will begin here

TO DO
  • Career system for courtiers
  • Add more interactions and jobs
  • Add more baron contracts
  • Update old mechanics to use new contracts (i.e peasant and populist faction creation)
  • More general flavor

KNOWN ISSUES
  • Game can crash if titleless player inherits a vassals title - Not much I can do on this front, this is a paradox issue. Currently have a workaround that should prevent most cases of this (by switching the player character on inheritance), although there might still be some crash states left
  • Activity intents are randomly set for unlanded participants

COMPATIBILITY

  • This mod overwrites 00_default_roles, feast, funeral, hunt, pilgrimage and wedding activities, on_death on action, peasant and populist factions, on_leave_court on action,

  • Triggers of on_travel_plan_movement,on_travel_plan_start , on_travel_plan_abort, travel_danger_events_on_action triggers, 00_court_role_triggers, can_be_knight and can_be_commander,

  • city, clergy, holy order, mercenary company pool selectors, court position search events and recruit_court_position decision out of necessity

  • and succession_order_laws
If any mod overwrites these there might be issues, although not necessarily very major ones. The only conflict in yearly and travel on actions would be the triggers I changed, but the on_actions will be appended with other mods

Oriental Empires patch

Since this mod changes a lot, It may still not work with some mods. Though I recommend using the freecam for royal court mod to see yourself in your liege's court better

To be safe, place this mod at the bottom of your loading order

I really like the mod. I think it adds a lot to the game.
Only thing is that, I don't know if this is an issue for anyone else, but the interaction to "Search for a Mercenary Band" doesn't work. I'll click it, an event will pop up (but no one will appear in the event), I'll click to sign me up, but nothing happens.
The interaction to join the Varangian Guard works but the issue I have there is that I can't leave. When I sign up, the event says I can leave the Guard after 12 years. But after 15 years passed, I wasn't able to leave. Which was an issue because I wanted to become an Adventurer by founding an Adventurer Camp. I met the gold and prestige requirements to do so, but I couldn't do the interaction because I had "military obligations". So, I was just stuck in the Varangian Guard.
I had other mods on as well (these being VIET, Better Battles Updated, Battle Events, Dark Ages, Fate of Byzantium, and More Interactive Vassals) but I don't think they would interfere with this one.

Would it be possible to make the odds learning dependant and the date till next attempt visible for the "Learn to Read" interaction?

Also I have noticed it is possible to raised as a knight while also being in an Entourage with your liege
