Skirmisher (1884)

Skirmisher was built in 1884 as a steel twin screw tug-tender for the Cunard Line. Due to the river being too shallow in neap tides to moor against the landing stage, the Skirmisher was ordered to transport passengers from the stage to the liners in these times. She was also a tugboat, hence her powerful powerplant for the time, and being the earliest twin-screw Cunard vessel. She continued her career until 1947, when laid up, and being broken up in 1948.
