-----===== HISTORY =====-----
In 1939, the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad was in need of more steam power to haul heavy coal trains. This task was given to the Lima Locomotive Works, the pioneer of the Superpower Era's 4 wheel trailing truck, built to support large fireboxes on locomotives. Lima decided to take this concept to its logical extreme, with a 6 wheel trailing truck, made to support a huge firebox on the brand new H-8 2-6-6-6 locomotive.
60 of these locomotives would be delivered between 1941 and 1948, and were quickly put to work on the Alleghany subdivision in place of the earlier 2-8-8-2 H-7 locomotives, earning them the nickname of the Allegheny class.

While delivering the first batch in 1941, Lima miscalculated the weight of the locomotives, which were much heavier than previously assumed. When C&O crews found out, they were outraged, as their payment system was based on the weight on the drivers, and thus were being underpaid. This led to a lawsuit against Lima, as well as compensation for the crews.

In 1945, the Virginian Railroad received their batch of 8 AG class 'Blue Ridge' Locomotives, also from Lima, which were virtually identical to the C&O's H-8s.

During service in 1953, Allegheny 1642 suffered a boiler explosion due to prolonged low water condition, taking its crew with it. The locomotive was not repaired, seeing as the class was facing retirement during these times.

Both locomotive classes worked hard on their respective railroads, up until 1956, where most would be scrapped due to dieselization, including every Virginian AG, while 2 C&O H-8s, 1601 and 1604, were preserved and now reside in the Henry Ford museum in Michigan, and in the B&O Railroad Museum, respectively.

Hey folks! Sorry for the wait, I lost interest in the game for a little while. I have a few other projects waiting to be uploaded, so hopefully you'll see some more content soon (they are not train mods though). I'm also going to keep and future train mod projects a secret, until they are at a more organized state, so no spoilers for any future projects, but I think you will like them!
Stay safe, folks

Answer:

Yes, the both variants have differences both engine and tender, the Virginian variant of the engine has bold white railings on the top front of the engine (to access the smoke box), whilst the C&O variant just has black railings.

The tenders are way more obvious, the C&O lettered "Chesapeake and Ohio" and the Virginian railroad lettered Virginian respectively.

Question:
Is there a difference between the two.
