Types IIA and IID will hold up to 22 sailors


Types VIIB and VIIC will hold up to 30 sailors



Officer Limit increased to 9


Mod is NOT savegame compatible


Recommendations (Based on 6 hour shifts):

Type II:

Officers:
2 Watch Officers
1 Navigator
2 Machinists
1 Torpedo Mechanic
1 Radioman

Sailors:
4 Observers (2 aiding each Watch Officer, the game doesn't allow to have both these and normal observers due to the small space of the bridge)
4 Stokers (2 each helping the Machinists to reduce fuel consumption)
2 Navigators (To aid the Navigation Officer)
2 Torpedo Mechanics (Aiding the Torpedo Mechanic Officer)
1 Radioman (With a shift covering the sleep of the main Radioman officer)
4 Diving Planes Specialists (Set them to clean, open doors and press buttons, but with a priority lower than DP, so that they do those tasks while on the surface)
2 Helmsmen
2 Cooks


Type VII:

Officers:
2 Watch Officers
1 Navigator
2 Machinists
1 Torpedo Mechanic
2 Radiomen

Sailors:
8 Observers (2 aiding each Watch Officer and 2 more on the bridge for each shift)
4 Stokers (2 each helping the Machinists to reduce fuel consumption)

You should check the forums or the Discord for help with the manual crew management, it's kind of complicated at first glace, but with some help I am sure you can get used to it!

I may be overcomplicating it, as I figured it out now, but how do I assign the enlisted properly? I keep trying to do it and end up with manning issues. For example, what are stokers? What are torpedo mechanics? These aren't listed.

You need to enable crew management on the campaign start menu, then, recruit more by talking to the Recruitment Officer

As for the Officers Limit, you have to ask for favours to the Mission Officer and spend Reputation Points to unlock more slots

Am I just not using the mods right when I load in and see 20 enlisted sailors and 5 officers as my starting crew? I'm new to the game and wanted to play around with modding

@MaxtheMushroom you have to increase it by spending reputation points with the mission officer on the favors tab, it is a vanilla game mechanic btw

Not sure if this is just me but when i start a new game if i go under the crew tab it says max officers 5/5, sailors on board is out of 30 like it should be. Have not checked if it will let me add officers later on but currently it does not seem to allow me to add officers from the recruitment guy when i start a new game. Game version is: 2025.1.1 patch 4

Oh, I think I forgot to updte the Type II

Back then only a single cook was enough with no need to alternate shifts (The crew desnt has tiredeness btw, you can just have a cook on the galley 24/7)

Also, in the Type 7 the dive plane guys are the cleaners at the surface

the numbers you have for the crew assignments don't add up,
Type ll there's 20 crew available but that setup requires 21
Vll there's 30 crew available but only 28 are used, so you could set the extra 2 to cleaning
