UPDATE: Last Weapon functionality has now been integrated into the game by the developers. For people looking for a simple, easy to use last-weapon button, this mod probably isn't necessary anymore. However, it offers a lot more advanced features such as holstering, and offers a more configurable last-weapon used button due to the ignore list and other features, so it may still be useful for some people who want more in-depth customisation. As a result, I have decided that it should remain on the Workshop.

This mod is designed to implement a robust, intuitive and configurable last-weapon used button, as well as 10 quick-select slots.

Features:

- Select your Last Used Weapon with Q, similar to Half-Life and other games with this feature.
- Alternatively, an alternate keybind is also available to select Last Weapon and hold to select the Weapon Wheel, designed for controller users.
- Weapons can be added to an ignore list, and will never appear as your last used weapon. This helps to prevent "polluting" your Q button in certain circumstances.
- Weapons must be selected for a minimum amount of time (1 second by default) before becoming your last used weapon, to facilitate scrolling through weapons.
- Holster your weapon by holding your USE key or with H. This is mainly an immersion thing, but it's also useful for taking screenshots.
- Assign up to 10 quick-slots with weapons. Hold a quick-slot button to select it's assigned weapon, release it to go back to your previous weapon. Or simply press to select the slot weapon and press again to go back to your previous weapon. I like having a quick way to select the Roaring Cricket, for efficient sniping, but may also be useful if you want a "quick punch" button.
- Quick-slot weapons won't become your Last Used Weapon, they are designed to be used for things you switch to when the need arises but don't want to switch to all the time.

I discovered this mod through the 2024 cacowards, and I love the idea, even if I wouldn't use it much for Selaco. Unless there's multiple weapons on a single key, I typically don't use Last Used Weapon binds because I bind each weapon individually.

Now I DID download the GZDoom version, so once I start playing Doom mods again, I can see myself getting a lot of use out of it. So just saying thanks for making this! :leatherneck:

Yes, but this mod might still be worth using because it has an ignore list, hold/toggle slots, holstering, and a few other features. I can understand most people probably won't want to use this anymore, but for those looking for advanced functionality, this might still be useful. I'm kinda annoyed that a mod I spent a long time creating is now basically integrated, but that's what I get for modding an early access game.

best way to make mods is to open up and explore existing ones (you can open pk3/pk7 files using 7zip) and looking on the zdoom wiki.

I think you'll find the shotgun script issue is part of vanilla Selaco. If you really want to debug your SMG issue, try setting slots_debug to 99 in the console, which should show you exactly what the mod is doing

Okay, I've messed around with the debugger, and I think one of the scripts for switching to or from the shotgun is misspelled/using a function name that no longer exists (hence why it was defaulting to the SMG instead). @Shockwave I don't understand. Are you reporting bugs with this mod, or talking about the game in general?

I probably can't fix default layout problems but you should be able to rebind things to your needs.

The button display for LT and RT (for swapping wheels) is itself swapped.

Also, IMO it'd be better to set Markers to LT and Equipment to LB (relative to the RB weapon wheel input); it's mighty-awkward to use RT while also holding RB at the same time.

@hommlette that's very strange. I don't know what could be causing that. If you want to work around it, and you literally never use the SMG, you could try adding it to the ignore list (hold the configuration button and press Q with the SMG equipped), and that should resolve any issues you're having.

Alternatively, try typing "slots_debug 99" in the console, which will tell you whenever it registers a new weapon as your last-used one (look for lines about setting goodweapon), and that might help you figure out what's going on.
