Officer Class

描述
This mod introduces a new Soldier class and accompanying weapon to the Phoenix Project's roster: The Officer Class. Designed as a tactical support unit, its abilities provide interesting squad-oriented utility rather than improvements to personal firepower. Despite its supporting role, a new PDW has been added to accompany the Officer and help it defend itself.

This mod should be compatible with all other mods on the workshop, including Terror from the Void. For non-steam users who'd like to use this mod, here's the GitHub link to the source code and PPME release.[github.com]

Class features:
  • Only one Officer can be deployed on a mission, so be careful when choosing who you promote.
  • The Officer can only be selected as a secondary class; Leadership positions are earned!
  • Since the Officer is only available as a second class, it features an additional ability at level 4.
  • Mutoids can't train as Officers nor select Officer abilities.

While the class draws some parallels to its Long War 2 equivalent, the original motivation behind it was to re-balance some of the game's existing support abilities without removing them completely. I give more information on this, alongside answering some other potential questions about the mod in the FAQ.

Acknowledgements
First and foremost, a very special thank you to my co-creator, RevenantLilith, who designed and drew the majority of the new icons used in this mod (excluding those used for Onslaught and Deadeye). All rights to these icons belong to her only. If you'd like to support her work or commission her for your own projects, check out her info page here.[revlilith.carrd.co]

The PDW added by this mod is an unused asset buried in the original game's files, thus all rights to the weapon's model and textures belong to Snapshot Games.

Lastly, many thanks to several other members of the Phoenix Rising team for their input on design, implementation and polish.

What triggers the Officer research? Because I'm not getting it. I have my candidate with a lot of accumulated SP waiting to get the class. I hope it's not dependent on Jericho- almost none in sight in my current game and friendship 1%.

Is normal that "Resilience training" doesn't work with mutogs?

Oh .... Sry! My "Officer class" was still in development. Got completed few game hours later and then ammo could be made. So starting with Sophia as officer can give a little confusion. My bad.

Hi. I started with Sophia as an officer. And have also researched "Officer class". But for some reason I can not make ammo for her PDW??

Hi, by any chance could the mod be configured to allow officers to spawn naturally and deploy more than one for a challenge run?

I'm not sure what could be causing a conflict (other than maybe the option to unlock all classes from the start?), but the 80-in-1 mod barely works on its own so it's not surprising that it doesn't work with other mods.

Unless you play with the tutorial every time then I'd also recommend using and configuring my "Custom Starting Squad" mod so that you can use an Officer (Sophia) from the start.

Rebooting didn't work. It seems to be in conflict with the 80-in-1 mod, because when I have that mod disabled, this one enables normally.

I'm getting the following error when trying to enable this mod:
Could not enable mod 'Officer Class'

The only other mods I have installed are your XP Overflow mod and the 80-in-1 mod. I have tried unsubscribing and resubscribing already only to end up with the same generic error. I'm going to try rebooting my Steam Deck and see if that fixes it and I'll report back.

People making more classes for this game is a step in the right direction as far as the modding scene's concerned. Classes, enemy types, vehicle types; things of this nature add insane longevity to a game. Just check out XCOM 2's workshop with all the original content people have added to the game, all inspired by its actual lore.
