A Fisherman by the name of Kenny Romero has recently discovered a potentially hazardous illness in Muldraugh KY while walking along one of the lakes on the 4th of July, 1993.
His statements regarding his find were recorded as being "I saw a dead dog by the river. Looked like it had a bad case of ringworm I went to look at its body to find it still moving. I picked it up and took it to the clinic
they told me it had no pulse, but we all saw it was still moving when I reached down to feel its pulse for myself it bit me. They called the Health Department who locked us in here." -Kenny Romero, July 6th, 1993.
The U.S department of health, attempted to learn more about what they were dealing with through taking samples, and observing the progression of the infection within the clinic.

Over the course of a week the medical specialists were able to observe the progression of the disease. They acquired a full list of symptoms caused by the colloquially named "Boiling Rash".

The sickness spreads though air and skin contact.
It causes a lot of circular lesions to appear on the scalp of the host, along with a large cluster of them that was observed growing from the arms legs and face of the infected people. this cluster of lesions is known as a "spore lung" it is used to build and pump spores into the air. The area where the spore lung grows is extremely hot to the touch according to the testament of the people within the clinic. The heat from the spore lung causes intense pain and mild to severe burns around the area of growth, being the reason for the grizzly name of the fungus. The fungus also causes extreme bleeding from every hole the blood often becomes sticky and builds a black sticky layer of dried blood. On July 7th Kenny stopped responding to questioning and began attacking Kara. A crew was sent in to euthanize him. His body was transferred to Peregrin Hospital, on the 9th of July for autopsy.
during the operation Kenny jolted back to life and attacked the medical examiner.
Kenny and the examiner then broke the door down and infected more people.
This resulted in the complete quarantine of Knox County Kentucky.

Stay in your homes, board the doors, and windows, stockpile food.
If you see anyone exhibiting symptoms of the illness, stay away from them.
It only takes a touch or a breath to end your life.
Be it friend be it family, living or dead do not hesitate to defend yourself.

The quarantine seemed to work for a time, until reports of the illness began to surface in Indiana.
A underground Railroad of sorts had been sneaking across the Ohio river and searching for survivors.
Looks like someone came back infected, that person likely didn't even know that every person they interacted with was doomed.
the virus swept across Indiana too widespread to contain it moved to Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and onward.
The CDC made multiple attempts to stop its spread but it was too late.
