Proper Baltic Names

描述
This mod replaces the default personal and dynasty names for Baltic cultures (Lets, Lithuanians and Prussians).
The idea was to expand the name lists, including only the names that are consistent with the respective naming conventions and ethymology. Christian names were ommited.

Ironman Compatible. Achievement compatible.

Lets (called Latgalians in the game): names of historical rulers and families were used, as much as possible. But since only a few such names and families are known, most of the other names come from the period of romantic nationalism. Personal names of Finnic or Scandinavian origin were omitted. The family names are consistent with Latvian naming traditions.

Lithuanians: names of historical rulers and houses were used, as much as possible. Other personal and family names of Lithuanian origin were added to the list. Ruthenian and Polish names and houses were ommited.

(Old) Prussians: some personal and family names are mentioned in historical documents. But very little is known about Prussian language and culture. Therefore, most of the names and family names are Neoprussian (which is a reconstructed language).

Dynasties and cadet dynasties have separate lists.

NB! The default (vanilla) name lists will still be used for the first generation AI rulers and their family members (and for the player too, if you don't use the ruler creator), since these characters are pre-determined in the history files. But the game will use the mod lists for all the random courtiers and new generation characters.

Sure, why not? I might include it in the mod (just need to figure out, how to update the Workshop file via the Paradox Launcher, since I have moved the original files to another folder).

But, if you have suggestions, then suggest only pagan names, nothing like Jonas, Jurgis/Jurga (=George), Petras or Andrius or anything like that. and no Germanic names like Edgaras or Oskaras, It can also be a modern Lithuanian name, if its ethymology is Baltic.

You can check my list in the file "00_baltic.txt"

Thanks for the reply, you are correct in your observations, it does seem it was her baptized name, apologies for the rushed suggestion. Should I gather a collection of good names I will make sure to share it.

Thanks for the comment! Yes, I also had similar doubts about Plikiene, because it sounds stupid, but the fact that it was the first female Lithuanian name ever mentioned in a historical document was precisely the reason why I kept it. As to Morta, I also considered including it, but eventually I ommited it because it sounds similar to Marta, which is a Christian name, and there were enough purely Lithuanian names to go around.

The word Plikiene may be one the first historically mentioned names, but it is a last name nonetheless and basically means "wife of the baldy", I would recommend replacing it with another name that is an actual first name such as the name of King Mindaugas wife - Morta

Finally won't have to consult my calendar for Baltic names as much.
