Scanning Sites Plus Glass
Abstract
Introduces the author's config edits to the fantasitc "Scanning Sites Plus 2" of Mitzruti.


Overview
Scanning Sites Plus Two is a fantastic mod that offers more "relaxed" missions to get rewards out of scanning sites. However, the missions are still the usual missions, so they are affected by whatever difficulty modifiers are applied to the entire game. In this mod, identical copies of most mission types are created, and are assigned to the scanning sites. This allows greater control over the difficulty of these missions types.
Basically, scanning sites are divided into three categories: Easy, Moderate, and Hard. Easy missions are for four soldiers, and have around 7 enemies on them. Moderate missions are for six soldiers, and they have around 12-13 enemies. Hard missions are for eight soldiers, and have around 25 enemies on them. In general, missions that grant more "raw" material are considered "harder". The full division into categories can be found in Appendix A.
Another feature of this mod is that it makes the ADVENT Network Tower mission a mission that the player can play multiple times during the game, by making it one of the missions eligible for certain scanning sites.
The Chosen cannot appear on the Scanning Sites missions with this mod.


Configuration
In general, the reader should avoid touching the configs unless they know what they are doing.
XComEncounters: related to the enemy lists on the new missions.
XComGame: some of the configs to clone the mission types, into the Easy/Normal/Hard categories. Controls how many soldiers can go on each category.
XComGameData: Chosen banning configs, and stuff related to the extended timer sitrep which will be on the "hard" missions.
XComMissions: more config required to clone the mission types.
XComMissionSources: removes the original Scanning Sites Plus Two configs, and adds its own.
XComScanningSitesPlusTwo: removes the number of available scanning sites from 4 to 2. Removes some scanning sites that don't make sense with CI.
XComSchedules: Schedules on the new missions.



Compatibility
Scanning Sites related to stuff from Savage Items are also incorporated in this scheme, but since the author does not use it, it was impossible to test.

Obviously, Scanning Sites Plus Two.


Known Issues
In the author's experience, the ADVENT Network Tower mission requires finishing the turn one extra time after the mission objectives are cleared.

The number of enemies on the missions in this mod depends on the mission type and not FL. Your squad size is varied to compensate.

part deux: that aside, the 'bug was the initial report that had zero enemies. Easiest mission...EVAR! :steamhappy:

I don't mind larger numbers of enemies, but at FL8, let's just say, 'unexpected'.:steamhappy:

The mission was the vip where there are ambushes after you activate the vip. (Sewer map variant.)

The faceless dark event kept spawning them. I killed several. The ambushes (3 in total) dropped 8, then 4, then 2 on the final one. 23+14(ambush) and 5 faceless. So, yeah. I play 'commander' level as I'm not interested with the slog of tech advancement in legendary.

I just re-read the description, so 25'ish max then. I missed that. My only 'thing' is the jump in numbers AT the force level I was at. lol. (The "first time" meme pops into my head. :steamhappy:

Also, I never run 8 soldiers. For my crew, 6 max. These were all bonded, which saved the day. Heh. That may change if I do "requiem', but haven't played that mod set yet. (Several custom enemies, but Requiem or some of the 'hive stuff', I've held off on.) :steamthumbsup:

23 abilities on this mission is what I would expect. How it got to 45 enemies I'm not sure. Normally the rescue vip missions have one pod of reinforcements after you get access to the VIP. so I would expect like 30 or something.

Oh, and another glitch(?)...I just ran a rescue the scientist. I'm about mid-campaign (June/July'ish) and it dumped 23 troops (with the usual two extra ambushes for that type of mission). AND I had the 'faceless' dark event active. I'm an old hand at this game, so I loaded up the best crew and went after it. 45 dead aliens later, I got my scientist. Heh. (no Lost on the mission.) It was like the game was making up for the zero enemies and no lost mission I reported. :steamhappy:

That was a wild fight, so thanks, but for newer players, dealing 8-9 at FL8 (covert infiltration) to jump to 45 might be a wee bit jarring. :steamhappy:

I've let eclipsezr know as this happened on his new EU plots (ammo base), but I suspect this mod is at fault. (or at least partially.) Just ran a 'rescue vip' mission (to receive an engineer), and there were zero enemies listed. It was a LOST sitrep, but they were missing until the final turn when I had rescued the vip and had everyone on the evac pad to end it. I have changed no configs.

Figured you'd want to know. I've had a other missions that worked just fine, the only visual glitch is how the skyranger tries to set down, jerks and THEN turns and sits down on the site.

I can dump the screencaps to discord if you need them.

I really appreciate the idea of this mod. I was happy to add more scanning sites but not so much with the added missions of equal difficulty to my other missions. Having them be a bit more easy to approach on top of being varied in their difficulty is a godsend for me.
