The core of the nation came from the book Veli Jože by Vladimir Nazor. The historic Venetian occupation of Istria, the oppressed peasants and the allegorical Giants that liberate them are all part of the book. This was combined with the legend of the golden fleece. According to legend the Colchis fleet chased Jason and the Argonauts through the Danube to Istria. When Medea's brother was killed by Jason, the fleet didn't want to return home and they established the city of Pula, the city of fugitives. This story was modified slightly to change the fleece to that of the solar goat, and not a ram, to be more in line with the golden goat, the symbol of Istria. In the dominions nation, the fleece stayed in Histria and became the focal point of worship. Ancient revival of Illyrian (Histrian) arms and equipment as well as their love for piracy was added. Piracy was the main reason behind the historical wars between Histrians and Ermor (Romans). Gradine - ancient hilltop forts dotted around Istria were incorporated in the nation. The ancient observatories at Picugi and the modern one in Višnjan were the inspiration for the astrologers. Finally the plentiful vineyards and good wine served as inspiration for the winemakers and the enchanted wine, drawing bands of satyrs from distant Pangaea (actually refugees from Asphodel) which the Histrians consider sacred due to their goat-like features.
