In honor of the fallen brave men of the 22nd Australian Brigade


It is 8 Feb 1942..
At 2230 hours, the 5th and 18th Infantry Division of the Imperial Japanese Army commences the invasion of Singapore and assaults the northwestern part of Singapore.

The invading Japanese knew that they could not afford an expensive long drawn out fight. Having fought down the Malayan coast, they had lesser forces in reserve to commit.
Plus, all the surviving elements of British Malaya had fled to Fortress Singapore as a last stand.





Hence the Japanese used speed and violence of action to push towards Australian command and control. Tactics commonly employed by the Imperial Japanese Army were human wave assaults aimed to throw the defenders off balance. As a result, the Australians were constantly outflanked and new defensive lines had to be drawn up in haste.

2) Namazie Estate Rubber Plantation
3) 65th Field Artillery Gun Battery
4) 30th Field Artillery Gun Battery
5) Ama Keng Village
6) 22nd Australian Brigade HQ




Play as the Australian Defenders
Relive this battle on the side of the defenders as you are constantly pushed out of your defensive positions. Feel the struggle of holding the line against waves and waves of Japanese invaders with no reinforcements and any reserve units.


Key Information of the Battle
- Japanese shelling had severed communication lines of beach defenders and Gun Batteries
- Australians had no reserves as they committed all their fighters to defend the 16km shoreline
- British Malaya Command didn't believe in tanks for jungle warfare

What I've done
- No respawns for AI Australian Troops until Ama Keng Village
- Australians have no radioman, so that artillery cannot be called down
- Singapore Defenders have no tanks at all





Play as the Japanese Invaders
Step into the shoes of a Japanese soldier as your squad attempts to overwhelm well dug in Australian positions where the 2/4th Machine Gun Battalion had been spread along the defensive perimeters.


Key Information of the Battle
- Japanese Army had fought their way down from Malaya and lacked numbers and supplies

What I've done
- Reduced ammo carried in all IJA infantry, attached bayonets
- The Japanese troops do banzai charges 😅

Had been focusing my effort into the map, but I'll look into these issues this weekend:

1) Fix wrong IJA Ammo Type
2) Add Bren Gun stock for AUS INF
3) Redesigning IJA Squads

@GKNOVA6 yes i'm aware of the barbed wire on the main road and it was a deliberate decision so that i could concentrate the forces from the Japs so that it will feel like 1 large push and the IJA will have to break through the barriers.

I did playtest it but played it more from the Australian side more. Thanks for the feedback, will take your suggestion into consideration and i will continually improve it.

It seems like the IJA have the wrong ammo types in their inventory. They have 7.65x20 instead of 6.5x50

The barbed wire in front of 30th Field Artillery Gun Battery block the path. Should have some gap so players can get though.

I like the map overall but the mission seems didn't have any play test.

Hey thats good feedback Nutella! Let me take this pointers in for my next update.
It actually was on my list of to-dos, will definitely give the squad side some more thought and love 😄

Love the effort that went into this. Couple of notes:

1. The Bren LMG is missing a bipod.
2. The Japanese have way too many automatics. There were only like 9,000 Type 100's made during the war (compared to about half a million MP-44's), with almost all of them being made after 1944. So in reality, there really shouldn't be any here at all in early 1942.

I love trying to make the units in my missions as accurate as possible, so if you want to collaborate in the future, let me know!
