The M33 tram in Gothenburg is a type of tram that was delivered between 2019 and 2023 and entered service in September 2020. The first two trams were delivered in December 2019 and March 2020, undergoing various tests to ensure expected quality. The trams were then put into regular service on September 24 and October 29, 2020.

The specifications and preparations for the procurement process took place from 2013 to 2015. Initially, there was a political decision to order at least 40 and up to 100 trams, with the expectation of the first trams being delivered in 2016. However, due to delays caused by a competitor's appeal to the court, the order was publicly announced on October 11, 2016. The trams were expected to be delivered by spring 2022, but due to delays, the final delivery extended until the fall of 2023.

The contract value for the basic order was around 140 million euros (approximately 1.4 billion SEK), covering costs for the trams, development, documentation, and training. After the initial delivery, there was an option to purchase an additional 60 trams, 10 at a time. These could be of type A (single-direction trams) or B (double-direction trams), with the possibility of ordering them as type C trams, which are 45 meters long, increasing passenger capacity but requiring adjustments to certain stops and infrastructure.

In September 2021, Västtrafik announced the purchase of 40 type C trams, designated M34, and ordered an additional 20 trams in May 2022. These trams were scheduled for delivery between 2024 and 2027 and would initially be used on lines 5 and 11 before being deployed on all lines once all stops were adapted.
