NOTE: Despite providing custom descriptions for quest objects, it seems such items may display the original default item descriptions instead. This has caused one or two people to sell the items by mistake.
Got it, tyvm! Yeam looking at the previous comment I suspect I really have sold it but it's not under the correct name so I'll go back and look for it. Also that's probably a "me" issue but for the life of me I can't find the sword..
THE ACCOUNTANT DIALOG
The only thing you get from the quest is the knowledge that Strahd is located in his crypt...anti-climatic I know. In the module, if treated with kindness, Lief will reveal the location of one of the artifacts (sword, icon or tome), but Madame Eva has already done that for the party...
Room for improvement for sure...
HOLY ICON
The spirit possessing the Holy Icon revealed by Madame Eva gives the Icon to the "first conscious player" as part of the dialog. The icon may appear as a bronze statue or something similar in your inventory despite the fact it is appropriately identified in the item's configuration. There are a couple of locations where spirits unrelated to the quest appear, so make sure you are talking to the right one. They will explicitly state something about giving you an item
It only appeared as a bronze statuette in their inventory but i was just buying every statue i found in case and its name changed back in my inventory
For future players is it possible to set it as a non-discardable or non-saleable item?
If you complete the quest to obtain the icon at some point, it sets a variable flag indicating you have the icon. The dialog at the door is triggered by that variable NOT the actual presence of the icon in the party's inventory; yet as stated above, the door requires the icon to open.
So if you complete the quest and do not pickup or later discard the icon, you will get the appropriate dialog at the crypt door, but you will be unable to open it.
