Sober up when steering your ship next to another one in multiplayer.


Disables clientside prediction when next to another grid moving in the same direction or when you are using relative dampeners. This makes docking to moving grids easier. See the example video without this mod if you are unsure what this addresses. Sadly I can't implement the same fix for jetpacks, since Keen didn't whitelist Sandbox.Game.Entities.Character for modders.

This will only improve the situation if you have good ping. With bad ping you are in a bad place anyhow. Can I guarantee this mod will help you with your specific flavour of desync issues at all? Nope - but here's hoping it does. Also, this is a fix for a multiplayer-specific issue. It won't help with anything that happens in singleplayer too.

The mod might need some tweaking about when to switch the prediction setting. If you think it switches too early/too late, let me know. Currently both grids need to be moving at more than 10m/s and in approximately the same direction. The distance from your ship to the other grid needs to be less than shipRadius * 2 + speed * 2. If you are using relative dampeners, clientside prediction is always disabled.

@BattlestormTitan Yeah pretty much. To me the negatives of clientside prediction only outweigh the benefits in some specific situations, so I made this mod to only disable it then.

if i understand correctly, the mod below but with additional logic as to when it turn off rather than always off?
