"Ranger" Hybrid Torque Vectoring SUV

描述

Welcome to Ranger. Ranger is an innovative new approach at vehicle design. Featuring four independent electric motors, and height-adjustable live-axle suspension, Ranger can tackle whatever terrain you throw at it, and then some. A fully digital traction control system, named SYNTRAC, calculates motor output thousands of times per minute, to give you power when you need it, where you need it. Featuring single-key operation and bespoke two-part UI, Ranger is designed to be easy to use, while also feeling refined and sleek. It's get-in-and-go, from the moment you turn the key. Ranger fits your needs, with five independent drive-modes, whether it be tearing up Salasago, or rock crawling Sawyer's toughest terrain. Each drive mode features behind-the-scenes calculations and parameters to keep Ranger at it's best, no matter the terrain. An innovative fuel-saving series hybrid drivetrain powers the motors, and shuts on/off without any user input - at low speeds, Ranger operates entirely on electric power.

Ranger features five unique drive-modes, which drastically change how the vehicle responds to your inputs.

Venture out. This mode is designed to serve as a great all-purpose. Maintaining full-time all-wheel drive, this mode prioritizes road-going stability, with traction control keeping the chassis in line. Featuring a moderate suspension height, Venture is capable of light to moderate off-roading, with suspension absorbing most impacts.

Sport is designed for maximum performance on pavement. Traction control minimizes oversteer, and the motors have their highest output unlocked, for quick acceleration. Benchmarked against the best handling vehicles on the workshop, it's designed and tuned for the fastest time around the track. Preproduction builds regularly scored sub-1:40 at Salasago. Suspension is kept at its lowest setting, which tightens up the chassis, lowers your center of gravity, and keeps your wheels where you need them - putting power down.

Rally is designed for high performance off-road driving. Power is applied with a rear bias, with chassis control designed to promote oversteer and sliding. Rally truly highlights the advantages of Ranger's advanced suspension, and traction control. If Ranger's spirit could be condensed into one mode, it'd be Rally. Suspension is raised and at it's softest, which allows for maximum wheel travel - perfect for jumps and whoops.

Rock Crawling is one of Ranger's biggest strong suits. Maximum suspension height allows Ranger to tower over obstacles, while full-time 4WD and unique traction control features, such as the eLocker, allow for rapid side-side power transfer on each axle, helping the vehicle conquer even the toughest terrains.

Tow is designed for hauling. A different torque curve gives you the torque you need, on the low end. Traction control, steering, and damping is all tuned for stability Class first load-leveling suspension adjusts the rear of the chassis to account for varying tongue weights, and keeps the chassis under control when driving over rough terrain.

Ranger has spanned over 3.5 months, from its inception and concept designs. After the Osprey, I began college, studying engineering, and I've learned a lot. I did my best to incorporate many of the concepts I've learned (including watching an online course in Vehicle Dynamics) in the most professional manner possible.

As far as inspiration goes, the Rivian R1 is definitely the clear winner. If you're attentive, there's a reference to them in the UI. There's also little bits of DNA from the OG Defender, and the golf R, thrown in the mix.

I've many people to thank, for all the feedback and testing they've done for me, so I'll just have to settle for a couple. The highlights include the usuals, including Donkk, Woodspeople, Exploderize and Sir_Murtak. All of you played huge support roles, and you have my many thanks.

Thanks to the community for all the praise, and I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did making it.

Drive on, and venture out!

why are you making cars instead of repairing the orion atleast make a mini version of it to make us calm down

Any particular gripe with the stability? the point of the torque vectoring is to roll that into one system.

Dashboard is awesome. this vehicle needs some stability controller

This deserves WAYYYYY more attention than it has. Quite possibly the best multipurpose vehicle on the workshop
