IMPORTANT NOTE: This mod is safe to install/uninstall at any point. Use it for only half the game if you want.

Damage Up is an uncomplicated mod designed to increase starbound's difficulty in a non-intrusive manner. Its was created originally for myself to speed up the early game, and designed to work well with lots of mods, by changing as little as possible. You kill things much faster, but also die quicker to NPCs and monsters across all tiers of planets. Space monsters and mech damage were excluded from these changes, as mech combat is well balanced between the amounts of health monsters have and damage that mech weapons deal.

What is changed:

- Damage for tiered weapons is doubled. This means player and NPC damage is doubled. Revel in your power and run like hell from hammer enemies.

- Damage dealt by monsters (excluding space monsters) roughly doubled, increases to a maximum higher than vanilla's tier 10.

- Monster health is somewhat increased. You won't notice this very early on.

- NPC defense is increased slightly. This change was to give utility to various FFS/addon weapons as better anti-humanoid options. Vanilla weapons will still perform extremely well.

- Shield health has been increased substantially. This is because in most scenarios duel wielding weapons works better, as eliminating threats is easier than holding them back when damage is so high. Now shields are a genuinely viable alternative if you need serious protection. As of 1.1 shields now also scale based on tier, whereas originally ALL shields provided the same protection. This was still more health than vanilla had ever intended, but it caused disappointment when finding new shields. Now you can have a little dopamine when finding a better shield.

Lastly. If there are items that don't benefit from the damage increases, it simply means they were assigned flat damage values and aren't upgraded using the vanilla tier system. There's nothing I can do about this, but you could ask a mod author to change this (good luck). Armors with flat values work just as well as vanilla armors since neither are affected. It's one of the reasons I made this mod in the first place.

Be sure to let me know if any particular values are too high or low (monster power especially), but keep in mind there will always be some issues with balance. Double damage isn't a small amount, and you will find that enemies that dealt chip damage now are a serious threat, and hard-hitting enemies now have the potential to oneshot you(why I buffed shields). There are problems such as bossfights being too quick, or certain modded guns being extremely powerful. I just played the game using risky and impractical tactics, and I found the mod's balance to fit what I needed to have fun.
I hope you do too.

This mod will not be ported to Forge.
