Generally when not actively (intentionally) moved by the player it just tries to keep the torso speed constant. This has a problem that if there's a small nudge in one direction, it only stops after the small nudge, doesn't return to the original position. When swinging the hammer it annoyingly started reliably walking backward as each swing pushed it back a bit. To stop it, if there's no movement input it remembers the last position where it had input and tries to go there. (Ie tries not to take a step back each time it's nudged). When clicking the spawn button, that position was taken as 'last known position' and it was trying to go back there.
