USCM UD-3 Dropship

The UD-3 (Utility Dropship), commonly nicknamed "Udee", is a dropship designed by UA Northridge in the 2170s that only stands out for its compact size, thanks to its folding tail assembly. Whilst it has been largely replaced in the UA and USCM fleets by the far larger and more capable UD-4 "Cheyene", it still sees service in the more cramped frigates and destroyers like the Ticonderoga class, with their limited hangar space.

For many a ship, the UD-3 represents the only viable dropship to carry crew and cargo back and forth from a planetary surface, and it has seem limited success in the civilian market. Due to its limited fuel capacity, however, its planetary flight range is relatively low. The dropship has a capacity for 4 passengers plus a pilot.
