Patch-Notes (06 Jul 2024) :
  • TOTAL REWORK SINCE MAJOR UPDATE

  • Improved articulated frame and bogeys for better behaviour in curves

Description of the mod :

After the UP Challenger, there is finally the UNION PACIFIC Big-Boy 4-8-8-4 #4014 articulated locomotive famous for being one of the biggest steam locomotive ever existed.


I tried to made this loco as easy as possible to drive.
I made everything concerning the steam engine automaticaly managed so you have no chance of boiler overpressure, explosion or overheat (but you still need to refill boiler with water).
Note : please disable the "infinite fuel" option as it could cause boiler to overpressure

To start the boiler you only have to turn on the key on the front of the firebox.
On the left side of the firebox you can also switch on the water injectors to refill the boiler if needed.


Features :

In-game :
  • Manufacturing : 100% vanilla components (with some .xml edited parts)
  • Spawn : /!\ can be spawned only in large workbenches /!\
  • Mass : around 25000 blocks (with tender)

Dont worry, It works fine! As far as I can tell, everything is in working order, I was joking about the lack of a whistle, which is the only real discernible flaw. I really wanted to nitpick I'd complain about a lot of crap that's needless to implement into stormworks, though I guess a whistle technically falls under that category...

Epic locomotive, but It lacks a whistle. It could've been perfect...

@BROOGLEY : Hi, yes you can freely post your own version of my design, it doesn't bother me at all.
Currently I'm not playing Stormworks that much but if I come back to the game I could take inspiration of your upgrades and maybe add it to my other designs.

so.. i have been a fan of UP big boy for a while. And when i look on workshop and your trains are one of the most impressive by function and design far. I.. did modify it for some details myself on 4014. like adding some steam actions and abit of the height size and traction power. but by chance i really wanna show u my modification. some of the reason is also because to ask for your allowance for me to make it, cause i don't wanna cause unnecessary trouble.
