描述
An update to ttt_thething_b4. I am not the original creator, simply made some edits.

A friend noticed a bunch of confusing aspects of this map, despite the well crafted objectives and in-depth systems on this map. Ladders that were not usable, some error models, and various missing props.

I have decompiled the b4 version of the map as a base and updated things where seemed appropriate.

-Fixed missing shovel model
-Fixed missing tree model
-Fixed seemingly floating lights having no models
-Fixed ladders not being invisible when they are not usable
-Fixed the saucer bomb not being invisible
-Fixed the alpha levels on several objective props
-Fixed some seams on the displacements
-Added a lot more weapons as this map was very sparsely armed

Not that I know of or can remember, the original map size on the workshop was 6 mb, so I think its just because I have some extra lines in the compiler. This is my $light.exe settings:

-final -ldr -StaticPropLighting -StaticPropPolys -game $gamedir $path\$file

I do know that the map was probably run with the Fast or Normal settings and not the Expert settings since it didn't have HDR.

Does the map have lights that can be switched one or off? That tends to bloat the file size because when you compile it needs to simulate the lighting for all the affected spaces multiple times for all the dynamic light combinations.

Imma level with you Corvatile, I didn't even realize the map was 47 mb. Upon further looking at this, I think its just because of the lighting compile options that I used since the only thing that I added to the bsp is the tree model from HL2 ep2. The map pre-VIDE was 38 mb, so I wonder if I use default compile settings it might be smaller. Unless a map is above 70 mb I don't even question what I was doing since under 150 it'll be fine on a FastDL. The server I play on also .bz2s all the maps anyways.

Why is this 47mb? Did you pack all of the original HL2 textures and models the map uses into the bsp?
