描述
Gemistos Plethon was a Byzantine Scholar and Philosopher, living from 1355 all the way to 1454, celebrated as both a virtuous advisor and an early progenitor of the Renaissance. This event chain is a whatif where the Emperors of Byzantium call upon his advice once again, and the influence of the man himself and his scholars and admirers can foster new modes of thought, and if you go along far enough you may come around to his final and most controversial idea: Reviving Hellenic Worship of the Olympian Gods.

Disclaimer: There is no actual Hellenic religion in this mod, it's all about the influence and growth of Plethonism, Hellenism may be its own thing at a later time. Feel free to plug in your own version of Hellenism into the final event, and please let me know if the events and decisions feel appropriately balanced.

There's a bonus event if you have my other mod, the Council of Florence and the Union Revolt.

For people who still have this mod on their playsets, I have a new mod which aims to reintroduce the content from the suggestions list on top of the landscape that Paradox sculpted in King of Kings and Winds of change. Not everything I built has been incorporated into it yet, but I hope to add what is appropriate over time. Feel free to check it out and I hope you enjoy it!

@RMS Oceanic I really love your mod series to expand ERE sensibly without artificial debuffs like what 1.36 KoK did. Do you plan to update your mod series to 1.37, and if at all possible either help make it compatible with Europa Expanded or make a standalone mission tree to pair with your mods?

Also, I found a very detailed video on the messy politics in the Aegean that you could use as the basis for a new entry in your series: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qS0v1BLPb28)

Please let me know what you think. Also I'd love a Hellenic Religion update added to this one, perhaps what Extended Timeline does for it could be used as a base.

Just so people who enjoy this mod are aware, I unfortunately am not in a position to update it for 1.36. Not only does 1.36's content steal this mod's thunder a little, but I'm in the process of updating my computer. Once I'm established and have experienced what 1.36 has to offer I'll see what can remain as future suggestions.

Will this mod change any when the new DLC drops given that Plethon is actually going to be a 'animist' advisor? (Honestly they should have just made him Zoroastrian as that might have been more accurate)

I am loving these Byz mods focusing on what-ifs! This one in particular is great since Plethon was a fascinating figure

@God of Kringles I haven't actually created a University Monument, you should see the Theodosian Walls alongside Hagia Sophia and The Suleiman Mosque

I got both your monuments mod installed and this one it didn't add a monument in Consatinople

@Bloodborn I meant my conceit that Neoplatonism eventually evolves into a thing called Plethonism and Plethonism being taught at a formal institution. Still how the Rennaisance interacts with hypothetical-still-alive-Byzantium is a wide space of possibility and there's room for refining my thoughts on it.

@RMS Oceanic The academy did float around for awhile, it never stayed in one place forever, even with the Neoplatonists, hell they(Plethon) had such an impact on Italy there's some Neoplatonic Religo Romana restorationists that are recognized as a religious organization in Italy today.
