SV Class 1 Core 7, Unlock Level 20 - Reforged Eden

Primary roles: POI Combat, Shield, Agile, Reforged Eden only

The Merc-Stinger-VX is a POI attack helicopter gunship built for the Anvil communities February challenge. It is a light weight shielded attack craft made to engage shielded planetary POI's without breaking the bank.

Stock Features

The Stinger comes with 2 weapon types. It's primary weapon to both deal with shields and hull is a 8 pack of plasma cannons. This is backed up with 3 minigun turrets and 2 gatling guns. It comes stock with 10K ammo storage, 2 passenger seats, o2 and dispenser, 1 cargo box, trauma station, wifi, and detector.

[[b]Upgrade options[/b]

The Stinger does have locations to add two addition advanced CPU cores bringing it to a core 9. This extra CPU is intended to replace the stock weapons with better versions. This however is not required and only an option.


Offense and defense

The hull is made with mostly carbon substrate but does have a few steel blocks in the mix mainly around the nose. It comes with 2 SV shield chargers and 5 SV shield capacitors bringing the total shield strength to 4080. A choice was made to only use plasma cannons for both dealing with enemy shields and hulls as this will maximize the fire power put on a target while plasma cannons will also do shield damage + are quite destructive once the shield is down. Beyond that it also has 3 minigun turrets to actively deal with ground forces and drones while engaging a POI. In addition it also has two Gatling guns to deal with soft targets with a cheaper ammo type. (15 mm which is also used in the minigun turrets).

Notes: The CPU is tight on this one at core 7. One possible upgrage option if CPU is increased would be to swap out 1 1x2 generator located in the bottom of the tail section with a 1x3 advanced version. To do this you would need to remove one block directly behind the current placed generator. I wanted to do this stock but just did not have the CPU for it. Also, it is a bit low on fuel tanks, something else that could be helpful to add somewhere if the CPU is available.

In game play tests it was found that 8 plasma cannons will do similar shield damage as to 4 laser cannons. So rather than having two different types of launcher weapons, it was found that you will gain much more DPS running 8 plasma especially after the POI shield is down since the game does not offer and form of weapon groups. In a nutshell, you can only fire one type of launcher weapon at a time, so stacking one type will provide better damage overall.
