描述
"I know you left for greener pastures, but how much longer until you get back?"

Horse Holder is a short co-op puzzle featuring a laser, a funnel, and a couple of rising platforms.

Estimated Difficulty: Order of Magnitude 3.5-4.5 with experience (Mostly manageable).

Important Notes:
  • Nothing important this time! Take care of yourselves.

Other Notes:
  • This is a puzzle; the solution is easy-to-execute and deducible, and no funky strafes, bhops, glitches, and similar exploits ought to be considered.
  • The exit door is unlocked; it will open when both players are standing in front of it.
  • There exists at least one trapping situation in which the player(s) must explode to escape.

Music: Natural Light, Harry Callaghan

Made with BEE2 4.41, with public UCPs:
  • Konclan Items, Konclan

I've always wanted to remake one of my older puzzles in my modern style, and this is it; this map was once called Slow Draw. Though I initially planned for the solution of this map to be roughly the same as its predecessor, Narkodes (who was a great playtester once again) discovered that there was an interesting sequence that ended in an alternate move that I had previously been trying to suppress.
Thus, the solution here follows a different path than the original; don't be fooled if you've played the version from a couple years ago! Beyond this change, though, I tried to keep the puzzle the same length.

I consider this map redundant with Slow Draw, so I've unlisted that original puzzle, but if you're curious as to what the first solution/map looked like or want to play it, you can find it by clicking here!

Thank you both for playing!

@Nobody No-One The colossal size was partially induced by the fact that I wanted this map to retain some of the character of the original PeTI version that I made long ago - this meant that some mildly unnecessary regions were either introduced or exacerbated to match the original layout. The entrance area, for example, probably doesn't strictly need that long grating floor, but this is similar to a structure in the original map. You can look at the original to see what I mean.

Really nice map! I had a bit of a mental block on this one for a while because I thought the cube was useless except for pressing the button, and I thought the only way both players could get to the entrance area with their portals was via the track platform. I solved it relatively quickly after deconstructing those assumptions, but it still required me to talk myself through the logic and work backwards much more than I usually have to do in SP. My only surprise was that funneling yourself from the laser area to the area with the floor surface was never required. I do have to wonder if the map could've been shrunk a bit; the entrance area especially is very large for its role in the logic. Regardless, big thumbs up!

Ditto what Mattchew said, this map goes hard

The beauty of this map is obscene. Love the end sequence, the cube blocking, funneling than null portal is nuts. Personal favorite co-op map so far, faved!

Thank you both! Glad to hear you liked it.

@| \_/ () I remember noticing that when I was testing - very strange indeed!

The layout makes it look more complex than it is, it's actually relatively simple. And yet, me and my brother needed at least 20 minutes to figure it out. Really clever, we liked it a lot.

Also, why do I (re)spawn facing the wall? That was weird :D
