Buccaneer Class For LWOTC

描述
So, Decemberween is coming again. Guess you all need your present, right? Well, here it is, the Buccaneer class! Check out the main class tree here[docs.google.com]. As the Buccaneer is set up for LWOTC, they have a 4-tier XCOM row as well as the pistol row (which you may actually get good use of on this class) in addition to their three main ability rows. They equip a Sword as their primary weapon, and a Sawed-Off Shotgun as their secondary.

The Buccaneer starts with the Scourge Cutter, Point Blank and Scrap Metal abilities at Squaddie rank, and has 3 specializations in their main ability tree. (They also stand out from most other LWOTC classes in that they gain 2 extra points of Mobility at Squaddie.)
  • Swordplay gives the Buccaneer more options to attack and kill with their Sword, including both proactive and reactive attacks that can hit harder than Scourge Cutter does, allowing them to feed their Sawed-Off Shotgun ammo count even more easily.

  • Blunderbuss is a burst DPS tree that has a mix of abilities that benefit the Sawed-Off Shotgun specifically, and ones that benefit all of the Buccaneer's weapons, including pistols should they take one.

  • Rock The Boat is the Buccaneer's bag of tricks, letting them cheat the system in many ways. There are a handful of abilities here that let the Buccaneer ignore what would normally be hard counters to them, such as Overwatch, mental ailments and even bad positioning.

Mod Requirements
  • Yes, Long War of the Chosen is required. You could repurpose the Buccaneer for use with regular WOTC, but that would at the minimum require the LW2 Classes and Perks mod, plus a lot of restructuring of the classdata to swap out the LWOTC versions of skills with the LW2 Classes and Perks versions. This is entirely possible to do even without ModBuddy (just config edits), so don't ask me to do it for you.

  • The other mods in the required list are for abilities.

  • While not at all a hard requirement, I highly recommend Mod Jam if you're a LWOTC player.

  • There should be no conflicts to speak of.

I met a weird issue. I cannot use any melee attack skills like Scourge Cutter. There is no error message or icon missing, and I can choose such skills. However, the game always said that there is no valid target to use this skill, even if I have equipped a sword and stand very close to enemies. That caused me to use pistol to make proactive attack. Is this a bug or is there any condition I missed? I'm playing this class in LWOTC

Hope I don't come off as an ass for saying this; but I was skeptical of this class at first. Lot of melee classes can feel... samey, at the end of the day. Use dash attack ability cut bad man free kills or enter the Arms of the Angels. This one though? This is easily one of the most unique and FUN classes I've ever used. The sawed off abilities are a barrel of fun to use all around, Scourge Cutter and its abilities really change the dynamics in a very good way; it feels reasonably balanced for what it has with its restrictions, which give this class flavor.

So much so, I opted NOT to take Fleche when it rolled, simply because I didn't want my Buccaneer to lose her uniqueness. I dare say this is some of your finest work for custom classes, and a new mainstay for my runs. Thank you for all your work.

Used this in my recent Mod Jam + Playthrough and loved it. Had a Noble-Team squad, Emile got rolled as a Buccaneer. Ever since the rest of the squad is begging him to let someone else get the kills lol

It appears that the Dogpile ability is bugged: instead of triggering once per target per turn, it appears to be triggering only once per turn, regardless of number of targets.

oh , it seems this class only have Scourge Cutter per the message before in here , that also make sense that this mod does not have slash

Can't check the ability name at the moment, but this class has another melee skill that replaces slash.

however , after installing mod jam, there is no slash i can use. even though i still like this class and always use
is it a bug ? can you fix it ? thanks so much for your working ! you give me a lot of amazing gaming experience to me !

I see any mod class i have can equip modded swords except this one, Won't let me choose a sword with attachtments.

@graylion this sounds like a animation related issue, this mod adds none. Maybe it's a primary secondaries thing.

This is somehow incompatible with some of my other mods and crashes the game on starting gatecrasher :(

Getting a bunchload of errors similar to this:
