Mineral Hopper Train Car

This is an empty train car equipped with mineral hoppers and a funnel system to unload the minerals. It was very loosely inspired by general purpose hopper storage cars used on the rails today. This type of car can be used for any of the minerals added for the Industrial DLC. It can hold a little over 3000 units of any mineral and the chutes to unload the car are in the center marked with a yellow arrow. There are switches on the sides near the chutes to unload the cargo. The car was built to work with my train car micro-controller and use electrical cables to transmit data through the car. The car was also equipped with my flipping HAZMAT placard system allowing the car to be easily labeled if carrying something dangerous like uranium. The car also has a small assortment of personal equipment that can be found near the unloading chutes.

The flipping placard system is controlled from two panels located at the front of the car and next to the controls for the brake system. It has 10 hazard classes and 4 sub-classes allowing the car to be labeled with any placard used by the US Department of Transportation.

The brake system is controlled from the front of the car using a brake lever. The top control panel allows an operator to indicate whether this car is controlling the brakes for the whole train or if it is being controlled externally by a locomotive or another car. The second switch indicates whether or not the controlling data is coming from the front electrical cable or the rear electrical cable. The bottom control panel shows the current status of the brake system and what values are being sent to the individual sets of wheels.
