1). Open the electrical cabinet in the equipment room and flip the battery switch 2). Flip all of the circuit breakers on the panel to the left 3). Press the AUX AIR COMPRESSOR button and wait for air pressure to exceed 85 4). Use the four buttons below to raise the desired pantograph(s) 5). Flip the TRACTION MOTOR ISOL., DYNAMIC BRAKE CUTOUT and PROP. ISOLATION switches 6). Go to the leading cab and turn on the cut-in valve under the engineer's desk 7). Head to the desired operating cab and turn on the CUT-OFF PILOT VALVE and INSERT REVERSER HANDLE switches All locomotives operating in MU configuration must be connected with electric cables and equipped with ESS-2. Each locomotive has 2 that can be found in the equipment room by the leading cab's left side door. Connect the cables to the red electric connectors between the locomotives. In the leading locomotive: 1). Turn on the CURRENT LOOP MU switches in each cab In the trailing locomotive: Complete the startup checklist as normal and 1). Turn on the CURRENT LOOP MU switches in each cab 2). Turn off the cut-in valve key 3). Turn off the CUT-OFF PILOT VALVE and INSERT REVERSER HANDLE switches 4). Set all controls to 0 If the locomotive is being controlled by a cab car, complete the startup checklist as normal and 1). Flip the 13T CAB CAR switch on the overhead panel in the cab. There is one in each cab and it doesn't matter which one you flip 2). Head to the equipment room and open the electrical cabinet from earlier. Find the two buttons labelled PUSH SELECT and PULL SELECT and press the PUSH SELECT one 2). Turn off the cut-in valve key 3). Turn off the CUT-OFF PILOT VALVE and INSERT REVERSER HANDLE switches 4). Set all controls to 0
