If it's about fall damage, if you have no health bonus, you can kill yourself by changing the camera with the camera look (i think it's the 2 ctrl buttons by default) to the top of the screen, then teleporting to the top of the screen to any ground that is somewhere above where you started, you would be dead. No flying required.
Vanilla Starbound has only one way that I can currently remember to negate fall damage, and that's driving the mech (whether it's cause the mech itself absorbs the damage from the fall, or just negates it entirely, I don't remember, but it will prevent fall damage to the player). On the other hand, Terraria has plenty of ways to negate fall damage.
