About
No Death Cascade stops on death stress cascading through your family wiping out generations in less than one week.

In this world, nothing is certain except death, taxes and stress!

HOW TO
This mod is passive, the only thing you have to do is select the appropriate game rules before you start your game.

The mod has three modes of operation, either cascade, blocking or mourning.
  • Cascade mode applies on death stress to you and your family as per the vanilla game.
  • Blocking mode will block you and your family from receiving any on death stress.
  • Mourning mode will apply one on death stress to you and your family and then implement a period of mourning during which time none of you will receive any further on death stress.

HOW TO - Blocking mode
There are three rules for this mode, once you select one you just play your game with no further action required.
  • Player only - no on death stress for the player.
  • Close Family - no on death stress for the player and their close family.
  • Extended Family - no on death stress for the player and their close or extended family.

HOW TO - Mourning mode
There are two rules for this mode which set the duration of the period of mourning, either brief or long.
  • Brief mourning - The player and their close family will receive on death stress for the first death of a significant person in their life, and then they will enter a brief period of mourning lasting 2 years, during which time they are comfortably numb experiencing no further on death stress.
  • Long mourning - The player and their close family will receive on death stress for the first death of a significant person in their life, and then they will enter a brief period of mourning lasting 5 years, during which time they are comfortably numb experiencing no further on death stress.

NOTE
For both modes of operation, the player's spouse is included as part of their close family.
See the screenshots for further explanation of the mod's operation.

Default game rule and save game compatibility
You can safely add and remove the mod from a save game.

The default game rule is set to the mod's Brief Mourning mode.

If you also use the Gamerule Gadget mod then you will be able to change the mod to use any of it's game rules after adding it to a save game.

Compatibility
Because of the way events are modded in CK3, this mod is not compatible with any other mod that edits the death_management_events.txt file. If you are subscribed to any other mod that edits that file you will have to choose between this mod and the other mod, you cannot run both.

Credit
Part of this mod owes it's functionality to an original idea in a now redundant mod AntiStressCascade by Sethamon

i have NDC in AGOT with 20 other mods (lol), no CTDs for me :) Appreciate this!
chihime 11 月 28 日 下午 8:47
@Kateye and @Z.Adams have you both made sure that it's not just a confliction with another mod causing the CTD via de/activating mods in batches??
Lost Nomad  [作者] 11 月 4 日 下午 1:23
@Kateye
Not sure what I can do about that.

I haven't had any CTDs and I use NDC all the time. I recently went through a plague which decimated my close family, dynasty and realm with no issues.

A test I did when this potential issue was first reported was to run a monthly on_action killing random members of my close/extended family, dynasty, realm and all relations such as lover, friends, rival, etc with no CTDs

I also am having the mod randomly CTD, but it doesn't appear to be when my rival dies as I didn't have one. It's likely someone dying because I can load back in and it'll take longer or less long to crash. However, once I removed the mod and was able to progress over a year, I didn't receive any notification of anyone dying, so it doesn't look like I should be in mourning? This makes me suspect it might have been an AI character. As a note, all my exception logs say "Unhandled Exception C0000005 (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION) at address 0x00007FF7CFCEDB43" but the other logs don't seem to share anything in common between my crashes.

@Z.Adams
I've just killed 10 rivals and nemesis and have not had a CTD, so you have something else going on in your game, possibly a mod conflict.
Lost Nomad  [作者] 10 月 31 日 上午 11:03
Interesting, I haven't seen that happen and I recently screwed my rival's wife on his death bed as he died.

You may have a conflict wit another mod in your playset, the only way to prove that either way is to start a new game with only this mod in your playset and kill a rival.

Hi,
Thanks so much for this mod!
I'm noticing an issue in AUH where this mod seems to cause the game to crash when a rival dies. Playing until the event passes and then turning the mod back on resolves the issue until the next rival dies.

@Xia
This is a vanilla mod, if it's compatible with AGOT or any other TC when they are on the same version of vanilla that's just a bonus.
Right now it won't be compatible because there have been changes to the death notification event and AGOT has not updated to AUH yet.

it was compatible with AGOT until it got updated
